Interested in hearing more edit

This is an interesting idea. Have you thought more about it since posting? Do you imagine these liaisons to be volunteers? How would they work along other existing groupings of organizers (arbcon, chapters, user groups, grant reviewers, etc)? Ckoerner (talk) 23:02, 30 December 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

I would see them as only volunteers, elected by the communities, and working sort of independently of other bodies. Their role would be mainly focused on communicating to and from the WMF - which is important at the times of tech rollouts, new ideas, etc. (and should go both ways). Often the WMF does not even know who can be really asked about the things happening in a given community. Pundit (talk) 19:17, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

not to be confused with WMF-hired liaisons edit

@Pundit: how about '(community) ambassadors'? There are already tech ambassadors. Tar Lócesilion (queta) 17:15, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, as well as university ambassadors. I believe that a name is less crucial than the mechanism. Pundit (talk) 19:15, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
No doubt! ;) Tar Lócesilion (queta) 23:39, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
