Recent software changes

• All new accounts are now global. [1]
• Your Meta user page is now shown if you don't have a user page on a wiki. You can report problems if you see any. You can ask a bot to delete your old user pages. [2] [3] [4]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since February 18. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from February 25. It will be on all Wikipedias from February 26 (calendar).
• It is now easier to see template fields in VisualEditor. The fields are bigger. [5]
• It is now easier to see when a button is disabled in VisualEditor. [6]
• Sometimes when you copy-pasted a template in VisualEditor, it was replaced by HTML. This problem is now fixed. [7]
• Tools in Labs will stop working for a few hours on February 24. [8]

Meetings

• You can read the notes from the last meeting with the VisualEditor team.
• You can join the next weekly meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meetings you can tell developers which bugs are the most important. The meeting will be on February 26 at 00:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Future changes

• At the moment you need to log in to edit Wikimedia wikis on mobile devices. You can say if anyone should be allowed to edit on the mobile sites. The discussion ends on March 15.
• Images in the interface will soon work better in Opera 12. [9]

Recent software changes

• A Lua function to use Wikidata has changed. You need to update the pages that use it. [10]
• You can use the Content Translation tool on Wikipedia in Uzbek and Minangkabau. You need to enable it in your Beta options.
• You can now hide banners if you don't have an account. [11] [12]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since February 25. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from March 3. It will be on all Wikipedias from March 4 (calendar).
• You can use the Content Translation tool on Wikipedia in Punjabi and Kyrgyz. You can ask for the tool in other languages.

• The TemplateData editor now warns you if a related page already has TemplateData. [17]
• The TemplateData table now tells you if a template doesn't take any parameters. [18]

Recent changes

• You can now create books on almost all wikis. It doesn't work yet on wikis using the language converter. [21] [22]
• VisualEditor had problems with categories in Safari. It sometimes moved or removed the categories. The issue is now fixed. [23] [24] [25]

Changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since March 4. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from March 10. It will be on all Wikipedias from March 11 (calendar).
• In VisualEditor the "Edit ^beta" button is now called "Edit" on the English Wikipedia. [26] [27]
• The feedback tool in VisualEditor now looks like the other tools. It also asks for information about your browser to help fix bugs. [28] [29]
• You now see the VisualEditor toolbar even if the rest of the page is still loading. [30] [31]
• You now see more information when you edit a link, a reference or other items in VisualEditor. You also see a clearer edit button in those tools. [32] [33]
• If you use the ContentTranslation tool you now see red links in the list of articles in other languages. The link is red if the article doesn't exist in the language of your options or of your browser. You can translate the article by clicking on the red link.

My request for temporary admin status at ladwiki

1. Thank you for deleting that not-in-Ladino page.
2. I asked here for community support for temporary administrator status. The Spanish version of that request said,

Greetings! While doing cleanup in iu: wiki You (perhaps, accidentally) deleted some valuable articles made by iu:User:KitikmeotHeritage. It seems, he has good knowledge of Inuit. I do not understand Inuit but at least phonetically and grammatically his language looks like Inuit (he simply used latin script instead of native but I think we should not be picky when somebody adds content to so slowly growing wiki) so, I hope, You could restore his articles. EDP seems impossible for them. Transferring them to commons only requires Free-status. Given that obtaining that might be difficult, and today we have nine years of "Resolution:Licensing policy" maybe just delete.   5. ay:Special:ListFiles 14 files: no admin, all for deletion.
  6. gn:Special:ListFiles 15 files: all for deletion, no EDP, 1 admin.

  1. @tpi - if they would be CC-BY-SA they could be transferred. But they are not tagged as such. In absence of an EDP they have to be deleted.
  2. @gn : The admin doesn't enforce the wmf:Resolution:Licensing policy. My removals from articles explicitly linked to that policy. To block me for this is an abuse of his admin privileges. Additionally as the main uploader of infringing material this would normally be a situation of conflict of interest. But maybe he has no conflict, as he aligned his position of admin with his personal view on copyright and WMF rulings. I thought also admins have to respect the WMF licensing policy, or is there an exemption clause? 1) MarAmarilloGuarani.jpg - map without source (looks like a Google map) -> copyvio -> delete. 2) Chikitunga.jpg - photo of a human, no (c) info - delete. 3) APedroMoliniers.gif - photo of a human, PD claimed, but no source given -> delete. If he could prove PD he could have uploaded to Commons, where experts checking such claims reside. No rational for local hosting. 4) A- Maxima Lugo.JPG - photo of a human. 5) Py.gif - duplicate of a file in Commons. No (c) tags. Delete and simply use the file from Commons, where experts checking copyright reside.

  Adding more : gn:File:Paranà.jpg is used on a person page, gn:Luis Alberto del Paraná, but there is a free equivalent. wmf:Resolution:Licensing_policy : "An EDP may not allow material where we can reasonably expect someone to upload a freely licensed file for the same purpose, such as is the case for almost all portraits of living notable individuals.". I don't think it is very effective to have long discussions for each image. This mini-wiki has shown that it isn't enforcing the WMF Licensing policy. In 2009 it was proposed to disable upload.   Thanks a lot. @kw 1) 8 likely non-free files in kw:Klass:Profyansow rag dilea (to delete) 2) this will leave only the images tagged with kw:Template:CornishChurches. They were not used on church articles but articles about the wider places. I either replaced them with files from commons (same church , or other file for that place) or in some few cases removed them without adding a new image. The copyright notice at kw:Devnydhyer:QuartierLatin1968/CornishChurches doesn't seem to clearly indicate a license allowed by Commons. On the source website http://www.cornishchurches.com/ it says "As at April 2016, I have photographed 317 Anglican Churches" - so that might be a case for a larger upload to Commons - if allowed. Of these 15 have the string "Call Numbers" in the description. They are from the US Library of Congress (LoC). Free one have been moved, these don't seem to be free. The other nine also are at least partially from LoC. Maybe all 24 have to be deleted. Even in presence of an EDP they may miss a legitimate use rational. E.g. These three + ltg is 97. I already changed to do uploads, talk with non-SMWT-WPs (Danish went zero today), but I want to have the rest as easy as possible. Global rollback

Hi Matiia,

I would like to explain to you why he asked to be a Global rollbacker.

I am focusing my edits to revert vandalism in just over 50 wikis, because I do not see in Global rollback policy a minimum number, it cites only that the users must demonstrate heavy use of revert on many wikis. When Infinite0694 was approved as global rollback, he had reverted less than 8,000 edits on wikis excluding his "home wiki". Excluding my home wiki I have nearly 10,000 edicts and most are reverting vandalism. I would like to continue focusing my "work" in these 50 - 60 wikis. Hi. As far as I can see, most of those 10,000 edits are not reverting vandalism/spam, but performing content work. You can continue your "work", you don't need to be a global rollbacker to help out. @Nobita931: por lo que veo, esas IPs son proxies, y por el comportamiento que tuvo, es bastante probable que sea Geo. Ya que usó proxies, no serviría de nada banear un rango de IPs, ya que puede solo usar una IP de otra parte y evadir el rango. Matiia (talk) 04:35, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Localmente... te explico brevemente. Sólo Marrovi se dedica a hacer ediciones en secuencia, es decir, hace breve modificaciones pero en realidad los artículos están vacíos, parece que trabaja pero no trabaja. Es raro que un usuario amplie, mejore o cree una página como Dios manda. Hemos sido sysops por 9 años pero nunca usamos los botones, hemos sido una comunidad de tres. El problema radica en que Marrovi utiliza la Huiquipedia para promocinarse y la controla desde hace tiempo a su antojo... Como te dije anteriormente, aquí en Huquipedia somos gente de trabajo, lo que se le pedía Akapochtli era que fuera activo y asumiera su responsabilidad de admnistrador, además que constribuya con sus donaciones económicas anuales (esto es opcional) y asista a eventos de Wikimedia, pero no veo cual fue su enojo y me bloqueó de forma permanente. Pues yo ya no estoy dispuesto a lidiar con personas así y seguirle el juego, para que veas mira su historial [59]. No es una persona activa no edita de forma regular ¿Qué ha hecho en todo este tiempo que le asignaron cargo de admnistrador?, yo no conozco admnistradores en otras wikipedias que esten echando la chorcha y aparezcan cuando se les ocurra. Pues de este tipo de gente que ocupa cargos sin hacer nada ya tenemos muchos en México y además nos gobiernan. Pues se le daba un plazo de un mes para que se volvera activo pero borró todo y me puso una serie de mensajes amenzantes para argumentar mi bloqueo permanente; si no me quieren desbloquear pues nimodo no vengo a rogar eso, solo para que vea que tengo un gran trabajo dentro de Huiquipedia y apoyé para que hablantes nativos se integraran al proyecto.

Yo no soy de ese tipo de personas que se arrastan para conguir algo y que envenenan gente, me gusta enfrentar las cosas de frente y ser directo. Si no me quieren en Wikipedia pues nimodo, no me quieren y debo entenderlo. No tengo porque ser carismático ni fingir ser la victima o andar de rogón. Dije e hice cosas incorrectas pero también me agredieron y no tengo porque dejarme ver aquí o cuenta fantasma de Yavidaxiu. Si quieres saber de mi, puedes preguntarle a User:DerHexer, nos conocimos en persona y creo que es una gran persona.

Los artículos que has escrito son muy buenos y creo que Akapochtli debe aceptar que tiene muchos errores en su escritura, y que él escribe para hablantes muertos (está lleno de arcaismos y verbos en desuso) y nosotros no, escribimos para darle funcionalidad a la lengua y que los usuarios se identifiquen y consulten, él debe aceptar que yo tome las riendas de Huiquipedia Náhuatl y debe acpetar que cayó en un error al bloquearte para siempre. @Ks-M9: Hola. Sí, los mensajes en translatewiki que están en el espacio de nombres MediaWiki, son mostrados en todos los wikis de Wikimedia. Habría que ver qué página se desea traducir, si está la capacidad de hacerlo en translawiki, entonces sería lo mejor, sin embargo, hay traducciones que solo pueden (o algo menos, deberían) ser realizadas localmente (como las de los centralnotices o algunas usadas por un JavaScript local) o hay veces en las que se necesitan hacer localmente, incluso aunque ya esté en translatewiki, puesto que la de translatewiki quita un poco el sentido al contexto de lo que aparece, y ya que solo pasa en un wiki, no sería apropiado modificar la de translatewiki. Scowiki year articles

Well, templates with variable parameters translating into a lead section would qualify as content in my book. @Zerabat: Hola. Borré varias páginas usando special:nuke que tenían títulos y contenido muy ofensivos, todas creadas por el trol que estaba creando cuentas con nombres ofensivos hacia AlvaroMolina. No se pueden ver ya que MarcoAurelio las ocultó al nivel de los supresores, aunque hay un pequeño registro de algunos de esos títulos en los registros del filtro antiabusos. Hola. Parece que existe un problema con los bots del canal. Todos los usuarios estuvieron saliendo y entrando (también yo) y ahora los CVNBots llevan una _ después del nick, y no mandan mensajes en el canal para monitorizar las wikis. Lo de que la gente entre y salga, es debido a que ocurrió un Netsplit en freenode. Lo de los _ en sus nicks, supongo que es algo en el código de los bots, al no poder acceder a sus cuentas IRC, no estoy realmente seguro. Ellos mandan mensajes, pero nosotros no los vemos porque el canal está en +m y los bots no están identificados a sus cuentas IRC, y por lo tanto, no tienen voice.
