URGENT: Please sign new Wikimedia confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information now

This is a reminder to acknowledge and sign the new Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information. As you know, your volunteer role in Wikimedia projects gives you access to secure and sensitive information.

The new version includes one major change.

• There is a change regarding the way personal data may be released. Accordingly, functionaries must notify the Wikimedia Foundation at check-disclosurewikimedia.org before releasing data, in order to obtain a written approval for doing so. The Foundation will respond within 10 days. However, for emergencies, such as cases involving threats of violence, functionaries may release the personal data without such explicit permission, but they should notify the Foundation immediately following the disclosure. If they choose not to disclose the data, the request for disclosure should be forwarded to the Foundation's emergency email address (emergencywikimedia.org).

There are also some wording changes that were made to more closely align the language with evolving industry norms, best practices and laws. The most notable of these has been the change of the term "nonpublic information" to "nonpublic personal data". None of these changes are intended to make fundamental changes to the scope or practice of the policy but we know they could appear as such, hence wanted to flag them.

The aforementioned changes require users that have already signed the previous version of the policy to sign the new version as well.

We therefore ask that you to sign the updated version. Signing the agreement is tracked on Phabricator's Legalpad. If you have already received this message and signed the updated agreement, you need not sign it again. Once is sufficient. Note: please bear in mind that if you still haven’t signed the updated version of the Confidentiality Agreement by February 13, 2019 your rights will be removed.

I hate to say but this is an evasive reply. Questions have been posted on Teles' t/p as well as the on the t/p of the activity report of 2018, 2nd sem. As an outgoing member, you have a responsibility to address the multitude of criticism leveled at your (plural) handling of OC cases and activity-levels. You are accountable to the community. Winged Blades of Godric: The OC underwent a period of prolonged inactivity, especially after the death of our colleague Lankiveil, who was one of the most active and engaging members of the group. This said, it was me who wrote the reports before leaving and - as you can see - my reports do not lie about the Commission's work. I participated in almost all the cases (I think in all but one or two). Weeks before leaving, I made sure that my opinion was there and I gathered evidence so as to make the task easier for the new members. After two years in the OC, I felt that it was time to leave. My decision was motivated by personal circumstances which I am not going to discuss with any of you. I just find it amusing that some of you blame it on the outgoing members, when decisions require the participation of most members of the OC. One or two can row against the tide for a while but at some point, without the prospect of an island, you simply give up. I assume my share of responsibility and I strongly believe that the OC has to change and that more should be asked from its members, especially if they are going to be back in the team. Thanks for the writing the reports and I heavily appreciate that. I will note that certain facts don't seem to be adding up, as to the figures (see my comments over Teles' t/p) and you might wish to chime in.

Lankiveil's was a sad and ir-repairable loss. FWIW, I am neither questioning your workflow nor why did you choose to leave the committee and your's not going to discuss the personal circumstances behind leaving is within your fundamental right to privacy; (though a bit of strawman over this part. discussion).

I am not blaming the lack of work on outgoing members and I have posted equivalent messages on the t/p of each and every user who was in the 18-19 commission. This was the manner, in which I came to know that Billinghurst was inactive for the second sem.

At Tele's t/p; I used the word coordinate with the outgoing members over Tele's t/p to emphasise that I do not wish solely from the newly inducted folks but rather from the exact 2018-19 committee including those who are staying for the 19-20 term. Over Teles' t/p, I also used the phrase:- outgoing committee which indicates the 2018-19 committee in entirety. You folks are elected for 1 year terms (and those who wish to stay on, (sort of) go out and make a return). I hope that my usage of teh term is clear:-)

And, I believe that you (all the members of the 18-19 committee; am not using outgoing commitee to avoid any potential seeding of confusion/bias:-) ) have a right to let us know about the broader scenario. About any problems that plagues your workflow; about whether any member was perpetually inactive or did nothing or as such any relevant stuff. I hope that you can appreciate that the performance-report of the second-semester (for whatever reason may be) is abysmal and the amount of trust about OC over the largest Wikiemdia project (where one user has described it as seemingly a mythical-entity) has dwindled a lot. You (plural) owe to restore it back.

Thanks, Winged Blades of Godric. Indeed, a few members were perpetually inactive and that delayed our work. This frustration is one of the reasons why I decided to leave the OC. I am not going to say that I was the most active member because I would be lying, but the group dynamics failed, as my/our report shows. I hope this will change but, from my own experience, most members become inactive after the first months. That´s all I can say. Thanks a lot and I don't mind any delay:-) The review will be used for this as well as this article, the latter of which will be forked out to a new article of its own. From a broader purview, it (along with numerous others) will be used to conclusively determine whether the 42 volume POI series is enough reliable to be used as a source over one of the most volatile topic-areas of Wikipedia or not.
