Unit segmentationEdit

Dear TheAafi, Please check the page if well segmented before marking it for translation. Your marking here introduced some issues: the heading were not isolated properly in units 3, 19, 97, 102, 106, 116 and 120; also, some markers have been wrongly moved, ideally we should restore their original location before marking the page, else we should remove them because they do not match with previous content. -- Pols12 (talk) 16:33, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi Pols12, Thanks for the note. I would surely take care of this in future but I need some time to fix this mess this time. ─ The Aafī (talk) 16:40, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
@Pols12: I've undid the edit for now to see how I can learn from this. I've to be in the college very early in the morning and will see this later. Unfortunately Meta:Internationalization guidelines doesn't have very much on segmentation. Your notes help very much. Thanks. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:02, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
I just have fixed the page. Actually, the marker should stay along with the content, but editors usually don’t know how to handle them, that’s why we should to check no mess have been introduced before marking the page. -- Pols12 (talk) 17:41, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
Thanks @Pols12. On Meta:Babylon, just below the Communications, I feel there's a problem in unit 14. <span style="font-size:larger"> and </span> should be excluded from the translation. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:03, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
On that unit, the best segmentation would probably be splitting the list to have one unit per item. But keeping the full list in one unit is acceptable because it is not so huge (8 relatively short items). So, this is harder to exclude some parts from the unit. The only possibility would be to use tvar; however html tags are handled as insertables in translate interface, so wrapping them in tvars would not be so useful for translators. That would make the text a bit shorter, but that would be harder to understand what the tvar contains to ensure they are well located in translations. -- Pols12 (talk) 20:00, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
