editI began editing the English Wikipedia in September 2005, concentrating on proofreading and organizing articles. In November I founded the WikiProject on user warnings to standardize the ad hoc user warnings (which would be completed much later in 2007). I requested administrator access in December to clear the open proxy backlog and organize protected templates, completing the first task a week after election (blocking and tagging 718 addresses). In January I founded the WikiProject on open proxies to continuously block open proxies and unblocked closed proxies.
I standardized the '!admin' stalkword to streamline finding administrators in a channel. At the same time, I became involved in the now-deprecated Requests for investigation, addressing its extensive backlog, redefining its scope to distinguish it from requests for administrator intervention against vandalism, and creating guidelines to prevent future backlog. (This process would much later be deprecated, replaced by requests for administrator intervention against vandalism and the Arbitration Committee.)
In February I created Category:Wikipedia:Blocked imposters, which was to become extremely popular and a game to vandals, much to my later chagrin as I entered the mindset that I would later codify as DenyRecognition. (These categories, along with thousands of other user pages, templates, project pages, and categories were later deleted based on that essay.)
Simultaneously I founded the WikiProject on user warning layout standardisation and drafted guidelines for user warnings use on user talk pages. (This project would later be merged into the WikiProject on user warnings.)
I started a template substitution project (aiming to centralize template substitution efforts), and soon after the related userboxes project aiming to fix broken user pages by replacing red links to deleted user boxes with their substituted code. This project gained much attention as a workable compromise, and many users would later imitate it. However, my related compromise policy on userboxes would achieve no consensus.

editI began editing the English Wikisource in October 2005, but was frustrated by its disorganized structure, inexistent documentation and guidelines, and complete lack of a unified style. In January 2006 I founded the WikiProject on infrastructural and guidance development, which would serve as a focus for developing the structure. I wrote the introductory help pages from scratch and unified the scattered existing help pages. I redesigned the standard welcome template, partly to correct the now obsolete links (see archived details).
That done, in Februrary 2006 I rewrote and expanded the deletion policy (see project deletion policy). After a successful proposal I purged the 209 mirrored MetaWiki help pages from Wikisource, updating all links to point to Meta. I created the administrator's noticeboard to centralize administrator discussions and requests.
I then founded the local WikiProject on open proxies, which would later be expanded to cover several other wikis.
