International Women's Day, India
This is the co-ordination page for International Women's day events happening in India in March 2014.

8th March is International Women's Day and to celebrate, women in India are organizing edit-a-thons and meetups to create and expand articles of importance to women in Wikipedia in English and various Indian languages. The goal of the month-long event is to encourage more women and transwomen to contribute to Wikipedia and increase the quality of articles related to women in Wikipedia. The event aims at creating new articles, expanding the existing stubs and translating English articles to various Indic languages.

Women Parliamentarians Edit-a-thon edit

This event is aimed at increasing the number and quality of articles related to women members of legislative bodies in India. Everyone is welcome to come edit Wikipedia with us at this event. Women, transwomen, Indians and those who are interested in articles related to Indian women are particularly encouraged to attend. Feel free to edit articles in the language of your choice.

  • Dates: 8 and 9 March 2014
  • Time: throughout the day (Can't be there on all three days? No problem, join us as long or as little as you can)
  • Location: At your homes, over a cup of tea or coffee!

Women Scientists Edit-a-thon edit

This event is aimed at increasing the quality and number of articles related to Indian women scientists. The edit-a-thon will take place throughout the day on 15th and 16th March, 2014. Sign up for the edit-a-thon here.
