User:MBq/blockedIPv4

From time to time, dewiki users complain about global range blocks which affect them. I'm trying to get the larger picture here. Key points so far:

  • 15,3295,154 IPv4 adresses are currently longtime-blocked = 4.1 % of the usable IPv4 space (which would be 3,706,452,992 addresses)
  • Europe (RIPE NCC) has 43 /8 segments to assign = 536,870,848 IPs, according to Wikipedia. 9,574,068 of these adresses are blocked = 1.8 %. Actually the blocked percentage may be a bit lower due to overlaps.
