It is theoretically possible that if all knowledge that is not personal data is free and every single human can freely share with it, the number of jobs that are needed to produce the needed things for life decreases drastically. From my point of view this is an scenario for what an further discussion what this means is important. Here at this page I write down my thoughts about that. From my point of view there are a lot of open questions for what a computer program or a more complex software would be great to have. During a discussion in the German Wikipedia I suggested to found an institute that explains how software works and that employs journalists and ohter creative people if they currently have no task on what they work. After my point of view this can happen more often, if television or radio stations can freely take existing files and use them without paying a license fee. I personally have no problem with that development and it is from my point of view important to offer alternatives people can work on instead.
Background
editEvery week I hear from people or sometimes talk to people who do not have a job. Otherwise when I do things I wish that there are solutions for the things im am doing or I want to understand how a software works. When I look for explanations then I sometimes dont find good explanations that answer my questions and help me understanding a software well. There are still states where many people work in the agricultural sector. In Germany the number of employees in that sector decreased drastically in the last 70 years. This is an example of a area with a lot of potential for automation and mechanisation. This will lead from my point of view to a lot of people who need another job. This is a big challenge and I hope that it will be possible to find another jobs for people.
Idea
editFrom my point of view having a job is a important thing that offers structure and ideally makes people happy. Digital work offers the possibility to work with a low need of resources. Only a computer and sometimes access to electricity to load the accumulator are neecessary. Additional a internet access is nice to have but not needed. There exists a lot of source code that is interesting to look through. I hope that more people will have a job in the future and that there will be a lot of jobs created in the tech industry and also in the educational sector to maintain and describe existing software.
