Community Update: Wikimania 2024 Katowice

Hello community,
did you attend Wikimania 2024 in Katowice, Poland?

Ifeatu Nnaobi and Danny Benjafield both and it was our first Wikimania.

On Friday, 09 August, we presented a poster during the Poster Session. We met and chatted with interested Wikimedians and presented the high-level and summarised findings from our research project on the state of usage of Wikidata in the Wikimedia projects.

Wikidata Community in ME and Africa -

Houcemeddine Turki (User:Csisc) discussed some challenges and ongoing initiatives facing the African and ME Wikidata community. Asaf Bartov mentioned similar challenges when discussing their Big Funnel approach for editor recruitment.
