The Wikimedia Foundation is a nonprofit that hosts Wikipedia and our other free knowledge projects. We want to make it easier for everyone to share what they know and access information everywhere. The Wikimedia Foundation Funds grants the Wikimedia volunteers and community members the resources they need to develop programs that foster our mission.
Our funding programs are guided by de-centralised decision-making of regional volunteer committees, and target groups of underrepresented communities. As a people-centred organisation, this way we aim to promote knowledge equity, enabling everyone to have access to create and consume knowledge and therefore, increasing the diversity, reach, quality, and quantity of free knowledge on Wikimedia projects.
