From my time, U.S. Eastern Time, it usually happens in the morning. And occasionally when I am about to sleep. I have tagged spam pages at Wikiquote their, but not enough to actually catch all the spam. Sysops their delete spam over their, so spam is regularly taken care of their.
To improve edit
At Wikiquote, we have nothing to worry about, so we don't need to pay attention to Wikiquote in the spam field. But, we can improve the spam their by educating users at Wikiquote in Special:RecentChanges. From what I have seen, we need to tell them about that special tool. We can also improve the spam their by active administrators. We do have admins who take care of it manually. But not really quickly. I think these details are the key to our spam-free wiki.
Patterns edit
- Usernames are like RL names. (examples: SamuelKraus, CiaraShonell, SonLauraIkm, etc.)
- Spambots create pages of spam.
