Candidate Introduction
Introductory statement / Application summary (maximum 200 words): Why are you running for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee? What would you contribute? As a candidate for Coordinating Committee, I am motivated by a deep commitment to fostering inclusive and respectful online communities. With extensive experience in community moderation and Wikipedia management, I bring a nuanced understanding of the challenges facing online platforms. My background in Information Management equips me with the skills necessary to navigate and manage ethical issues surrounding online conduct.

I am passionate about promoting transparency and accountability in content moderation processes, ensuring that decisions are made fairly and in accordance with established guidelines. Additionally, I am dedicated to advocating for the rights of marginalized groups and promoting diversity and inclusion within online spaces. If elected, I will work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement effective policies that prioritize user safety and well-being while upholding principles of free expression. I am committed to fostering open dialogue and constructive engagement to address the diverse needs of our global community. Together, we can create a safer, more respectful online environment for all users.

Please describe your Wikimedia experience (such as contributions to the Wikimedia projects, memberships in Wikimedia organizations or affiliates, experience working on conduct issues in your community, activities as a Wikimedia movement organizer, or participation in building Wikimedia policies). I am one of the Wikipedia Administrator in Bhutan particularly for Dzongkha Wikipedia (dz.wikipedia.org). I have contributed, uploaded over 300 Dzongkha articles and the assignment is ongoing. Owning to free edits access, it is sometime difficult to find your own articles because some intruders delete or moved it. So the committee need to operationalized some mechanism.
Professional Experience, Skills and Education
Please briefly describe 3 situations that show how you worked on, or advised others on, a complex conduct or policy issue. How did you work with others to address the situations? I have attended several classes organized by a Professor from Sydney University, who is also a Wikipedia Administrator and she work closely with the foundation. We had also carried out wiki classes with local IT firms, monks and nunnery to educate them how to create Wikipedia content, upload and manage. Most importantly, we educate them to respect other's contributions and follow the code of conducts of Wikipedia Foundation.
Leadership Experience
Can you describe a policy, on wiki or off, that you helped to create or change? What did you learn from this experience? The experience reinforced me the importance of empathy, transparency, and accountability in community governance. By fostering open dialogue and building consensus around shared values, we were able to advocate policy that promoted a more respectful and welcoming online community for all.
How have you been able to empower people to make their voices heard? One approach involves was organizing workshops and training sessions to educate community members about policy, techniques and skills. These sessions provide participants with the tools and confidence needed to express their opinions and advocate for their interests effectively to manage and upholds the user rights. Sydney university have also provided laptops and desktops to some institutions in Bhutan thereby, I have been able to participate with the team.
Sometimes in professional situations, there are personality conflicts. Explain how you remain productive even with personality conflicts. We have to be patience and careful in responding to such conflicts. For example, in some cases our articles get deleted or wrongly edited so we have to re-create contents or edit it.
Strategic Thinking
In your opinion, how can the U4C be a positive influence in the Wikimedia movement? The U4C has the potential to be a significant positive influence in the Wikimedia movement by fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and accountability by Promoting Safe and Inclusive Spaces, Building Trust and Confidence, Strengthening Collaboration and Cooperation and support.
How would you help the Universal Code of Conduct develop and improve over time? My approach to help the U4C may based on the principles of Feedback and Evaluation, Transparency and Accountability, Community Engagement and Ownership, Education, Training and Advocacy. I would also like to emphasizes that we accept images from other sources because sometime we are not available to take pictures or images by ourselves.
