Introductory statement / Application summary (maximum 200 words): Why are you running for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee? What would you contribute? I am excited to present my candidacy for this committee, advocating for the Underrepresented group to which I belong. Devoted to cultivating inclusivity, I am driven by the belief that diverse viewpoints are essential in shaping globally resonate policies. Drawing from my experience as a let's connector who is readily available for solutions to others, I've observed the pivotal role equitable representation plays in transformative decision-making.

My desire to join the committee is rooted in the recognition that individuals from underrepresented groups often face unique challenges in the digital realm. I am passionate about contributing to the committee's mission, ensuring that the Universal Code of Conduct is a robust framework that takes into account the specific needs and concerns of marginalized communities. My personal and professional journey underscores the urgency of crafting guidelines that prioritize inclusivity and offer special considerations to those who have historically been marginalized. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I am eager to bring my perspective and dedication to the committee's efforts in fostering a more inclusive and respectful digital space.

Please describe your Wikimedia experience (such as contributions to the Wikimedia projects, memberships in Wikimedia organizations or affiliates, experience working on conduct issues in your community, activities as a Wikimedia movement organizer, or participation in building Wikimedia policies). I have actively contributed to Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wiktionary and commons. As a Wikimedian organizer, I have organized several projects with special themes related to Gender Equality, in regions where education faces some bias due to gender differences. I have been part of movement strategy team implementation in my community. I took Wikipedia to axis where they face network issues using the Kiwix. I am one of the co-founder of kiwix Wikimedians User Group currently in the Affcom recognition stage. This all listed foster my community engagement. My dedication extends to policy development, where I actively participated in shaping Wikimedian policies, notably (Gender Equality). My commitment to the Wikimedia movement is exemplified by advancing education to less concern groups (Females). I am excited to leverage my experience to further contribute to the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee's objectives.
Professional Experience, Skills and Education
Please briefly describe 3 situations that show how you worked on, or advised others on, a complex conduct or policy issue. How did you work with others to address the situations? Been an educator with digital experience in data science and a beginner level experience in python have given me a great value to solve several situations most of which are:
  • As a supporting officer for Hausa Wikimedians User Group movements strategy implementation team, I navigated a complex conduct issue involving multiple users. I facilitated open discussions, encouraging a collaborative resolution and ultimately revising community guidelines for clarity.
  • During my effort to coordinate a project for the Kanuri Wikimedians User Group awareness campaign, I addressed a nuanced policy challenge by conducting thorough research and consulting stakeholders. Through transparent communication, I guided the team in implementing a revised policy that balanced diverse perspectives.
  • Serving as an advisor for Young Persons With Special Needs, I collaborate with members to address a contentious conduct issue. Utilizing a consensus-manner approach, we developed a resolution plan that prioritize inclusion and community concensus, successfully mitigating potential conflicts.
Leadership Experience
Can you describe a policy, on wiki or off, that you helped to create or change? What did you learn from this experience? I actively contributed to revising the Inclusivity policy in Wikimedians platforms. My involvement included engagement with the community through transparency discussion and proposing revision to address emerging challenges. This experience taught me the importance of inclusivity in policy development emphasis the need to give other people chance to showcase their skills. Overall, the process reinforced my commitment to fostering open access and equal chances to all.
How have you been able to empower people to make their voices heard? l empower individuals by fostering inclusive spaces for ideas. Through events which I coordinate, I provide chances for platform creation were all voices can be heard and valued without knowing the real identity. What matters most is the listener heared and advocate the speaker needs. I encourage active participation and respect to individuals views. I highly strive to amplify the marginalized voices, ensuring an enabling environment where both genders feel empowered and equal
Sometimes in professional situations, there are personality conflicts. Explain how you remain productive even with personality conflicts. In the face of personality conflicts, I prioritize open communication and active listening. By acknowledging diverse views and focusing on common goals, I seek common ground to maintain a consistent workforce environment. I emphasize collaborative and shared objectives redirecting attention towards professional results rather than personal differences. This method enables me to remain results oriented in a positive atmosphere that enhances teamwork and problems solving
Strategic Thinking
In your opinion, how can the U4C be a positive influence in the Wikimedia movement? The U4C, as an engine framework can greatly influence Wikimedia movement by fostering a respectful and inclusive on-site and off-site environment. This will provide a clear code of conduct, ensuring fair treatment for all contributors both highly represented groups and underrepresented groups. By addressing and mitigating conflicts, it proves trust and a stronger sense of shared responsibility. Overall U4C will enhance Wikimedia expectations through giving chances to the Underrepresented community to be part of committee's which in return will attract diverse voices of unheard communities which will lead to a more vibrant and comprehensive content.
How would you help the Universal Code of Conduct develop and improve over time? I will actively engage with the communities to seek feedback of continuous refinement of universal code of conduct. By doing so and participating in transparent discussions, advocating inclusivity I will address the evolving needs of Wikimedia community and readily foster environment of collaboration, equity and respect.
