Welcome to the Wikimedia writing challenge to improve the coverage of Trans and Gender non-comforming persons on the Wikimedia projects!
- When: The writing challenge will run from 00:01 on 15th November until 23:59 on 30th November 2023
- How: The contest is simple in structure, based on a KISS point system: You get points while improving articles, with the goal for each participant to gain as many points as possible.
- Who: We welcome all Wikimedian editors to join this challenge and you can participate from any part of the world about articles related to transpersons and also on Wikidata. To participate you just need to sign up on the Participants section.
- Why: There is a huge content gap about Nigeria Trans and gender non-conforming persons on the internet and Wikimedia projects. We want to change the narrative by creating new articles, improving the quality of existing articles and creating new Wikidata items. The contest is organized by the Wiki For Human Rights Nigeria and the Queerpedia Project in collaboration with the Bisi Alimi Foundation, with support from the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikipedia and Wikidata is missing articles and Items about a lot of trans Nigeria topics and through this contest we hope to improve articles and data. Improving Wikipedia and Wikidata content and coverage around Transpersons is important to ensure that our readers find high-quality information about the people that has helped form our world.
