Template talk:Wikimania 2007-bids

This is overkill
editI'm sorry, but this template has become overkill and detracting from the bid pages created by *all* contenders. London are happy to link to the other sites, but will not accept such a large and substantial template taking up one-third of the screen. --Alison Wheeler 09:23, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted to the smaller version of the template, and moved the large table to Wikimania 2007/Bid list instead. --Boivie 10:06, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I rereverted it. AlisonW, wikipedia is based on concensus not your acceptance... --Cat out 10:12, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Is there concensus about having such a large template? --Boivie 10:18, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I see no discussion nor consenses regarding the massive inflation of the previous template. I'd also consider that activities related to the Wikimania bid are for the candidate cities and the Wikimania management team to decide. --Alison Wheeler 10:46, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I do not see any discussion that gave size restrictions either... I also do not see how it can occupy "one-third of the screen", you must be using a very low resolution.
- Candidate cities as well as other people are welcomed to make comments here. The new template should generate the comments as people would notice it. I see at least one person who is in favor of the larger design.
- Generaly speaking, something as minor as a template on top of a page do not require a board inquiry (thats who the "Wikimania management team" I believe).

If we put the big template at the end of page?--Nick1915 11:03, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Posible but really its not all that large. Its only 3 extra lines when compared to the past system. I think it is important to display which countries and continents the biding cities are in. --Cat out 11:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, since london decided to use the subst version of the old template anyways no reason to discuss further. --Cat out 11:13, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I wish all bids could have the smaller version. --Boivie 14:26, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
