Sú-iōng
SALT (Same As Last Time) helps with the translation of recurring segments in Tech/News. When you enter {{subst:SALT}} as text when translating Tech/News the template will attempt to find a previous translation of the same section. This is less trouble than copy-pasting from previous issues because translation memory is permanently broken. Actually you may find it easier than using translation memory even when the translation memory DOES work!
Suggestion for use while translating Tech News
If you are using a keyboard, put {{subst:SALT}}
in your clipboard and press ctrl+V ctrl+enter
for recurring sections and ctrl+enter for non-recurring sections. When you reach the end, go back up and translate the non-recurring sections like you normally would.

{{SALT}} will:
- Look for a page title in the subpages of the template that matches the first 60 characters (or less) from the English original plus your language code (like Template:SALT/fallback/Recent changes/nl)
- Look for a section with identical translation unit number in the previous issue
- Look for a section with identical translation unit number in the issue before that
- Look for a page title in the subpages of the template that matches the translation unit number plus your language code (like Template:SALT/fallback/2/nl)

Î-tsai ê gī-tê
Some gadget or other functionality should be made to insert {{subst:SALT}} with a single button.
Î-tsai ê hiàn-tsè:
- Funny things might happen in the first week of a leap year? #care
- The people who create Tech News have to be consistent in their use of translation unit numbers (like
<!--T:4-->
) or all hell would break loose when looking up a section with identical translation unit number in previous issues, the primary lookup method no longer relies on this though. - Your translation edit summaries won't be overly helpful. On the other hand, free advertising for this template!
