editContributors
edit- Wikimedia Statistics can be difficult to interpret. What is your impression, how many steady contributors do you have?
- Hm, I would say 2 contributors who are regularly contributing. But there are some others who don't contribute often. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think 2-3 contributors who contributing often and about 5 who contribute sometimes but are steady. --Dezidor 23:17, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Are your contributors mostly native speakers?
- No. But there are some. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Where do your contributors live (regions/country)?
- It's different, but mainly in Germany (in the federal countries Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Thuringia) and Czechia, but from other German regions as well. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- How common is it that your contributors meet in real life?
- I personally met one user (native speaker of Upper Sorbian) from the Upper Sorbian Wikipedia until now. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Other Wikipedias
edit- Do you have special contacts with another Wikipedias (maybe in related languages)?
- I personally visit - if possible - the regular guests table of German Wikipedians in Dresden. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Do you translate a lot from other Wikipedias? Which ones?
- Because I'm a German I translate from German wp but also from Czech and Esperanto Wikipedias. I've already translated form Polish Wikipedia and - seldom - from Russian and Hungarian Wikipedia. Otherwise I contribute to the sister Wikipedia of the Upper Sorbian Wikipedia, the Lower Sorbian Wikipedia, translating from Upper Sorbian to Lower Sorbian. But I translated often into German for German Wikipedia. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Organization and support
edit- Is there a Wikimedia chapter in your country? How does your language relate to it?
- There is Wikimedia Deutschland in Germany but they are mainly interested in German Wikipedia. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Are there work groups in other organizations about Wikipedia?
- AFAIK now for Upper Sorbian wp but I'm sure for German Wikipedia. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Your Wikipedia and the linguistic community
edit- Is there a language institution for your language, like an Academy, or a club of people interested in your language? Do you have contact with them?
- Yes, there is. There is the Sorbian Institute in Bautzen and the Institute for Sorabistics at the Leipzig University. I don't have constant contact but I know some people in person. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Who (else) supports you?
- Nobody. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- What does the public outreach for your edition look like? Do you have flyers, give lectures, trainings etc.?
- I don't know. It's possible that Upper Sorbian wp is used on schools and at studying at the Leipzig University. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- As far as I know, the Upper Sorbian Wikipedia is seldom visited even by Sorbs. At the moment, there is too little content on regional topics and a big concurrent - de.wp. -- j.budissin 00:48, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Do you get feedback from readers?
- Not often. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- What other encyclopedias exist in your language?
- AFAIK none. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Content
edit- Does your edition concentrates on certain topics, like your region and language, or Latin Wikipedia on Roman history and Christianity?
- Difficult to say but I personally write about my region (Saxony and the adjacent Czech region) and computer topics. --Michawiki 09:13, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Articles at hsb.wiki are often about Lusatia and plants, I usually write stubs about people, Czech Republic and media. --Dezidor 23:52, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Did your edition enjoy text donations, for example from older encyclopedias?
- No, it didn't. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Language
edit- Is there a generally accepted norm about your language (spelling, dictionary, pronunciation)?
- Yes, of course. Upper Sorbian is an University subject and is teached in basic schools as well. There are dictionaries, textbooks (for children and adults), grammars and so on. For spelling the Prawopisny słownik hornjoserbskeje rěče (spelling dictionary of Upper Sorbian language) is standard. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- How do you deal with different spellings, dialects etc. (like B.E. lift and A.E. elevator)?
- The written standard language is generally accepted. There wasn't need of an special agreement about this yet. --Michawiki 21:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
