Other Wikipedias edit

  • Do you have special contacts with other Wikipedias (maybe in related languages)?
  1. Primarily between other constructed language Wikipedias, particularly Esperanto and Interlingua. Previously with Novial and Volapük, but those are pretty dead right now. Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do you translate a lot from other Wikipedias? Which ones?
  1. The vast majority of content is translated. We do have some original content, which is almost exclusively about the Interlingue movement itself (e.g. ie: Gerald A. Organization and support edit

  • Is there a Wikimedia chapter in your country? How does your language relate to it?
  1. Interlingue doesn't have a country per se; in the last few decades, the Interlingue Union has been centred in Germany and Switzerland however. We have no overarching organisation. Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your Wikipedia and the linguistic community edit

  • Is there a language institution for your language, like an Academy, or a club of people interested in your language? Do you have contact with them?
  1. There aren't really enough Interlingue speakers to have ie~wiki being separate from the Interlingue Union/Academy/IE Munde. Yes, there are clubs, and I'd say that everyone who contributes on ie~wiki is a member of at least one of them. Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • What does the public outreach for your edition look like? Do you have flyers, give lectures, training etc.?

  • What other encyclopedias exist in your language?
  1. No full encyclopaedias to my knowledge, although I may be incorrect. I know of one Interlingue language entry in de:Albert Bruckner's 1938 Swiss biographical dictionary, which was an editorial mistake (all entries were meant to be in de/fr/it, Bruckner likely mistook Interlingue for Italian haha) Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Content edit

  • Does your edition concentrate on certain topics, like your region and language, or Latin Wikipedia on Roman history and Christianity?
  1. There should absolutely be a focus on the history of Interlingue and the international language movement in general. This is in line with all of the other conlang Wikipediae. Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Did your edition enjoy text donations, for example from older encyclopedias?
  1. We use material from ie:Cosmoglotta for quite a few biographies, where we haven't gotten round to writing more complete entries. Primarily obituaries. Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Language edit

  • Is there a generally accepted norm about your language (spelling, dictionary, pronunciation)?
  1. We use Haas' grammar of Interlingue, and we have built online dictionaries which are de facto standards. For coining new terms, we have en:De Wahl's rule, so you can't go too far wrong. Frzzl (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
