editA great idea, but I don't think this should be a separate Wikimedia project. It can easily be a third-part application (perhaps funded by a grant from the WMF), or hosted on Wikimedia Labs. Either way, it makes more sense to use Wikidata than to have a whole new project. -- Ypnypn (talk) 16:24, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your feedback. I definitely plan to use Wikidata as the source (though I'm not sure whether Wikiology will directly access Wikidata or use some in-between data abstraction layer, but that goes a bit too far for the discussion here). I don't know whether it should be a Wikimedia project or a third party application, in any way it will be tightly coupled with at least three Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons). Also, I want to develop it with the Wikimedia "spirit" (i.e. anyone can contribute to wikiology, anyone can use it for free, it should be 100% libre/free/open). --Michivo (talk) 18:45, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
- This is a bit like an open-source 20 questions, not a bad idea at all, could be fun. A Den Jentyl Ettien Avel Dysklyver (talk) 12:51, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
