Wiki People's Almanac
editThe format of a wikinac and a wiki people's alamnac would be substantially different. While a wikinac would be a traditional alamac with focus mainly on statistics, pure facts and data a wiki people's alamanc would follow more on the lines of the Book of Lists, and the People's almanac, and provide trivia and esoteric informatin, unkown facts, little known events, lists and the bizarre. Thus while both projects may be almanacs I feel that they would be substantially different in focus. I don't think that the kind of information that the People's alamanc wouul include would be acceptable in a conventional almanac, therfore the projects should be seperated. To lessen confusion I would be willing to change the name of my project to wikiSignifica--Gary123 18:54, 1 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I like it, an easy, quick way to get facts about things. You could have it sub-divided between countries to represent national records etc. Very good. - Dalta 14:26, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
What is this going to include that Wikipedia doesn't already have? Also, I think you need Wikidata for this. Angela 09:30, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
It'll combine all the records into the one, easy to manage project. If you wanted to find the fastest man in the world and the last ten before him, could you find it on Wikipedia? Or the fastest man in each country, of each century etc. I looked for 'fastest man in the world' on Wikipedia and didn't find much. - Dalta 20:20, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Printed encyclopedias and printed almanacs both coexist nicley as will this with wikipedia I think, it could provide basic information you find in an almanac then link to appropriate wikipedia artciles, news storys on wikinews, books on wikibooks, ect...--RyanB88 20:08, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Great!
editExcellent. I was just looking to see if had been proposed as I was going to if it hadn't. It will be an extremely useful project.
I hope that we will be able to browse it by date.

Wikinac Proposal
editWell it seems to me, that the original proposer has left this project so I guess if thats the case i can take it over or something.--RyanB88 20:15, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- Please take a look and consider supporting WikiTrivia, a similar proposal.
Merge to Wikipedia
editNow that' great idea. However, since all of these ideas are encyclopedic. Just creating a separate Wikimedia Project for it will inevitably duplicate and reduplicate Wikipedia's content. So why not just merge this to the Wikipedia and make it a Wikiproject for such content? -- Felipe Aira 10:40, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- I actually feel that all lists, year articles, ("Events in 2004"), ("2004 in Panama") should be moved to Wikinac completely. Thus the editors can keep focus on updating and keeping track of all the data, providing up-to-date lists and database. This will permit editors interested in such work to remain focused and organize themselves. K a r n a 15:58, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
