"URL creep"

edit

I saw in the notes and slides that IP whitelisting "reduces whitelisting updates from 'URL creep'". What is URL creep? Sharihareswara (WMF) (talk) 20:42, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

"URL creep" is a term I use to indicate that our whitelist for the mobile website slowly increases over time as developers add new subdomains to m.wikipedia.org (like geoiplookup.m.wikipedia.org). When this happens, we need to notify all partners who don't have this in their previously configured whitelist and ask them to add it. In short - a partners URL whitelist tends to get out of date over time. User:Dfoy_(WMF)
Aha. Thank you, Dan! Sharihareswara (WMF) (talk) 21:20, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
