Blame wheel

edit

Please stop the blame wheel.

Jon: need moderation tools. not the same level as encyclopedia content, but... --> Lila: should review this [concept for Gather], a lot of complexity here which could cause problems

Gather's concept was and is entirely wrong. As agreed by pretty much everyone on wikitech-l, anything publicly visible must be on a wiki page, then you get all necessary features for free. Spending even more on Gather to add moderation tools is a no go. Consider that learning new moderation systems is also a long-term cost in learning curve and workload for editors. --Nemo 09:14, 21 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Nemo_bis :), "Gather's concept was and is entirely wrong" [citation needed] ;). It is still in development as you see, in order to make the best use of it, because as you saw _and contributed_ to earlier conversations, the concept of collecting a list of articles and naming them, already exists in Books feature, and is already requested in watchlist features, so nothing is incredibly odd here. The wikitech-l thread was, again, discussing the best use of the feature, in terms of where should this kind of content live, and how it should be treated. Again, if you are following the recent conversation on enwp, and the upcoming changes to the feature, you would realize that, things are developing as mentioned earlier above...and please, let me know if/when you would like to help me bring Gather to Italian Wikipedia as a beta test.
