Fiscal Year End Close
On today the fiscal year 2020-2021 of the Wikimedia Foundation ends. For the fiscal year 2019-2020 I havent found Form 990 on the Website of the Wikimedia Foundation. At the Website Propublica I found it on the Website Propublica. Jaime Villagomez signed the Form 990 at the 6th May 2021 and KPMG checked it on the 10th May 2021. It took a long time to fill the Form 990 out and publish it as it seems. How are the internal Procedures in the Wikimedia Foundation at the year end close. Do you think that it is possible to fill out the Form 990 for fiscal year 2020-2021 faster. From my point of view it is maybe possible to find ways to fill the Form 990 semi-automatic if the accounting data has enough additional information for that. What informations that are neccessary for Form 990 do you add through booking and what information do you add later, or by a look through the maybe relevant bookings.
I ask it because I am interested in financial reports and also automatically generated reports or filled forms and I think that the knowledge needed for such things should be stored in a public way and maybe Wikidata is a possible platform for definitions also for specific terms. As there is the ongoing Project of the Abstract Wikipedia and Wikifunctions I see there a chance that these projects can help improving the filling of the form 990 and also other reports. --Hogü-456 (talk) 18:40, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
