Free knowledge

edit

I notice there's no mention of any experience with free knowledge or FLOSS. Nemo 08:28, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Globalisation

edit

I'm not sure I understand the comment on https://diff.wikimedia.org/2022/01/12/luis-bitencourt-emilio-joins-wikimedia-foundation-board-of-trustees/ that «His expertise working with communities around the world will be invaluable in globalizing the Foundation’s approach to product and technology». If it's a reference to some personal experience not explicitly mentioned in the announcement, I take it at face value and welcome the focus on globalisation.

But if it's a reference to Microsoft, it's worth remembering that Microsoft's products are much less globalised than Wikimedia's software. We support hundreds of languages, with over 100 languages enjoying full translation of the most important messages used in Wikimedia projects, while Windows seems to have full support only for 43 languages. Cryptocurrency

edit

Why am I not surprised at creeping up entanglement with cryptobros (after Wales's nft malarkey) exemplified by this appointment? When is Wikimedia going to declare its imminent dabble in cryptoculture? Lukasz Lukomski (talk) 11:31, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please don't use "crypto" to mean "cryptocurrency". Around here, "crypto" means cryptography, as it should. Nemo 07:49, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sure, corrected. Lukasz Lukomski (talk) 10:01, 28 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
