Talk:Wikimedia Blog/Guidelines
personal perspectives
edit(@Ed Erhart (WMF), ASherman (WMF), and JSutherland (WMF):)
From m:Wikimedia Blog/Guidelines#What makes blog posts from WMF staff different?:
> Ours is an "official blog". That simply means that all of our posts are representative of the organization as a whole. We limit representation from personal perspectives. We can always point to our own, personal blogs for that.
Does anyone from the blog team want to update this section? Assuming it doesn't extend to community members and members of other orgs (and to avoid using the words "ours" and "we" to mean "WMF"), it would be clearer if spelled out in other ways, for example:
> When writing on the Wikimedia blog, Wikimedia Foundation staff limit representation from personal perspectives. They normally point to personal blogs for that. Some other organizations may choose to do the same, some may not.
We might want to make a more substantial rework to make it clearer about how and when we want to limit personal/organizational perspectives, though. whym (talk) 07:00, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Whym. We're talking internally about a substantial reworking of the blog. Can we hold off on these clarifications for a bit? Thank you! Ed Erhart (WMF) (talk) 22:59, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- Sure, I just wanted to see it addressed at some point. Thanks! whym (talk) 12:49, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Resources
editI think this page deserves better resources to be linked.
- w:en:User:Tony1/Redundancy exercises: removing fluff from your writing contains disputable advice and is of unproven efficacy (also, the lack of TOC makes the page really hard to use).
- w:en:User:Tony1/How to improve your writing is mostly off-topic and sometimes even in contrast with what said here, which part did you mean? Some of the links there can be useful and should be added to Writing clearly, although some are highly questionable.
