Carbon neutral?

edit

Will the conference and the flights to it be carbon neutral? -- Jeandré, 2007-10-24t20:43z

A flight is a flight. Taking off from 2600 meters (8700 feet) over sea level also requires a little more energy that will come from carbon-based fuels. Atendants from outside South America do have very few alternatives to flying to and from Bogotá, and neither of them is an electric train system. I am not sure yet on regulations that apply in Colombia regarding carbon neutral industries and transportation.
The conference should take place on facilities within walking distances from accommodation, and probably, very close to the airport. Most electrical energy used in Bogotá is provided by hydroelectric plants. Further than that, you can suggest ways to make the conference more environmental friendly if that happens to be a goal or a factor.

Kidnapping?

edit

Is kidnapping for ransom a concern in Bogota? I am not a local but I recall hearing about this somewhere. 76.110.150.84 15:25, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Number of people involved?

edit

How many people are actively working on this bid? Has there ever been a meetup of Wikimedians in this city? If so, what is the average number of attendees? Angela 03:46, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
