Talk:Wikicite/grant/WMFr/MoocWikidata

Latest comment: 3 years ago by Amélie Cabon WMFr

Thank you Amélie Cabon, Mathieu Denel (and team) for this proposal. I have a couple of short questions:

  • The beginning date is 'september 2020' however the reviewing (and announcement of approvals) for the wikicite grants will happen in early/mid October. Will this be a problem? Equally regarding the time: Assuming you are approved for this proposal, it would probably take a few weeks after approval announcement to sign the grant contract to transfer the grant money from WMF to WM-Fr. If you have already started, would this delay be a problem?
  • I know that Wikimedia France has experience in creating MOOC projects - the WikiMOOC which you mentioned in the proposal. Can you add a link to that project, so other readers can find it easily.
  • I understand from your Annual Plan Grant document - Program A3 'e-learning' - that you are already planning a Wikidata-specific MOOC. Can you please describe how this grant proposal expands upon what you are already proposing to achieve in the APG grant proposal. [note: because WikiCite is separately funded [by the Alfred P. Sloan foundation] you are allowed to receive a grant from both programs simultaneously. Nonetheless, can you please notify you APG program officer of this proposal, and also describe in this proposal how the two grants relate to each other.
  • The grant requests 8 420€ (10,000$) but the budget lists the cost as €32 670. Can you adjust/elaborate on this discrepancy? What is the budget structure of THIS proposal, and how does it relate to the €32k - which I am guessing is the cost of the total WikidataMooc?

@Amélie Cabon WMFr and Mathieu Denel WMFr: - I can now more clearly see from recent modifications to the proposal and the budget what is the "extra" part that WikiCite would fund. Is it correct to say that: The WikidataMOOC is definitely already going to be built, and this grant will fund two extra weeks of the course - the "GLAM week", and the "Tech week"? These are the two things described in the "Specific programme" subheading in The Budget. If this is correct - what would happen if this grant is not funded? Do those two weeks get deleted? Hello LWyatt (WMF) thank you for all your comments. Definitely, bases of the MOOC Wikidata will be created. But if we don't have the support from Wikicite or any private partner we will may not be abble to produce the last two weeks. About the delay between your approval announcement and the transfer of the grant, it's something the association can deal with. Amélie Cabon WMFr (talk) 08:53, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
