Notification of upcoming reporting due date edit

Greetings group contacts,

This is a notification to bring to your attention that your organization reporting date is coming up in 115 day(s). Wikimedia Affiliates are required to submit an annual activity report covering the entirety of the 12-month agreement period in order to prompt review for a renewal. Reports must be written in English, posted to meta via the Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal.

This page is used to track how organizations and groups are meeting reporting requirements described in their agreements with the Wikimedia Foundation (e.g. chapter agreements, thematic organization agreements, user group agreements). It is the central place where affiliates can add reports about their activities, share their plans, and even news or social media channels with the wider movement. When new reports are available, organizations and groups should add them to this page to keep their columns up to date.

As noted on the meta Reports page, your organization’s 2024 annual reporting will be due in 2024-05-01. Please be sure to:

  • Post your 2024 annual reporting to the meta via the Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal as soon as possible to return to compliance with your user group agreement.
  • Check that your group’s page is also up to date with past report links for historical record-keeping, and
  • Please send an email to Wikimedia-l in order to share with a movement-wide audience.

If you have any questions or need any further guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to wadportal wikimedia.org.

Best regards,

Wikimedia Affiliates Data Portal

Report for local disruptions edit

Hello @Doc James: I just wanted to report that User:Aliya Furrukh, who appears to be a participant in your project, appears to be causing disruptions on Urdu Wikipedia. They don't happen to follow naming conventions, and the translations are poor. They also happen to create poorly translated material in userspace of others. I wonder if there is any guidance provided to the participants? I have left them a wanning locally and might block them if they continue their disruptions. ─ The Aafī (talk) 08:09, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

User:TheAafi thanks for the heads up. Content like this is not named properly?[3] Is it just the names of articles or is the quality of the rest of the translation an issue aswell? We expect all translators to have native proficiency for their target language however we do not have restrictions on who can join.
We basically make sure all the starting content is of high quality but have limited ability to verify the resulting translations. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 08:48, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Doc James: as far as I can see, naming conventions are a major red flag. However, the translations made aren't any good either. Poorly translated material entirely and difficult for readers to understand. This one for instance has been deleted. ─ The Aafī (talk) 11:03, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
What is the guideline for naming in Urdu. The editor in question is here in good faith. Maybe we can help them improve their work with som guidance. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:12, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand given their response to my email. I'd however want to share an open advice that they shouldn't create articles in userspaces of others such as ur:صارف:Mr. Ibrahem/Anxiety disorder. The naming policy is easy. Article needs need to be in easy Urdu and shouldn't contain any special characters like they do on ur:شیر خواربچوں میں درد/بےبی کولک. I'd also want them to manually verify the translations. ─ Aafī (talk) 20:16, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

User:TheAafi By the way we have a tool that fixes the references[4] but I am not able to run it here[5]. It generates a flag unfortunately. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:05, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I was able to do this in ur:Special:Diff/6004297. I'd want the string to be translated in Urdu. I used the preview function and manually changed the edit-summary. ─ Aafī (talk) 20:20, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
User:TheAafi thanks. They should definitely be verifying all translations and of course putting them in the user space of someone else is not correct. Appears they may have had some issues with the translation tool. We could look at having them publish in their own user space. And if you are willing / able to review before they are moved live? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:33, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Doc James: I'd be glad to provide assistance. ─ Aafī (talk) 20:36, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks User:TheAafi. Having been trying to fix some of the issues. But keep getting blocked by "edit filters". I will going to move the content from ur:صارف:Mr. Ibrahem/Anxiety disorder to ur:صارف:Aliya Furrukh/Anxiety disorder and replace the first by a redirect to the second.
Additionally this one ur:شیر_خواربچوں_میں_درد/بےبی_کولک should have 1 name not two. Which do you suggest we move it to? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:38, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I deleted Anxiety disorder one because this appeared to be a duplicate of ur:اضطراب کا عارضہ created by same user. I'll leave the decision of the other one to the ongoing AfD it is subjected to. I hope User:Aliya Furrukh considers these things in future. ─ Aafī (talk) 20:50, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, this too was previously created at ur:بے چینی /اضطراب کی عارضہ(انزائیٹی ڈس آرڈر), a very senseless title. ─ Aafī (talk) 20:54, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
User:TheAafi I see someone moved it to the correct name (I hope) which is excellent. By the way is this edit okay[6]?
Also am looking at meeting with the translator in question via video chat to run through the different parts of the translation tool. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:02, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
