Talk:Sites using Semantic MediaWiki

Latest comment: 13 years ago by Robin Patterson in topic Wikia wikis that use Semantic MediaWiki

I'm going to make a bold suggestion. The current ordering scheme on this page suggests that the most important thing about a Semantic Mediawiki installation is that it be running the most current version of the software. This results in a wiki with 27 good pages being ranked #2 on the list, while one with 37,000 good pages being ranked about 20th or so on the list. I propose that we try to re-order this list in a way that reflects a more logical ordering scheme, such as:

  • last-30-day edit count
  • number of registered users
  • number of pages

If there are no objections, I will begin work on reordering the list in the next 3 to 7 days. Maybe even organize it properly, in a table. -- Thekohser 03:51, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I made it a sortable table, then people can order it the way they like. Feel free to put e.g. nr. of pages in a separate column.--Patrick (talk) 16:16, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I tried several ways to add "number of pages" as a new column, but my efforts seemed to only botch the table. If someone can make it happen, I will be happy to fill in the necessary data for every listed wiki. Also, if anyone wants to add other info columns, like Alexa ranking, or "total page views" (which is a data field in each wiki's statistics page), I will also volunteer to fill those data points manually. I have privately e-mailed User:Patrick about this, so he may be first to respond. -- Thekohser 16:26, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I'm not sure if modifying Template:Mws would be the best course of action or not, but I suspect so. -- Thekohser 16:28, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikia wikis that use Semantic MediaWiki

edit

Should these wikis be included into this list on Meta? -- Thekohser 19:26, 21 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Those of us who see it happening on the Genealogy Wikia believe that we use it, not just "purport to use" it. Is the locally-written part of http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Semantic_MediaWiki enough evidence? Current stats are: "This wiki contains 726,821 property values for a total of 235 different properties. 315 properties have an own page, and the intended datatype is specified for 316 of those". Strange, I can't get that Wikia's "properties" page to load for me. -- Thekohser 18:08, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I used to have trouble with that page too, but it comes up for me today. I've added Familypedia (the site's current name) to the table. Updating the above summary: "This wiki contains 7,636,303 property values for a total of 573 different properties. 1,868 properties have an own page, and the intended datatype is specified for 221 of those."
