Two different usernames
I got the renaming announcement for an account I didn't even remember I have. My global account is en:User:Radulfr and the other one is wikibooks:fi:User:Radwulf. Can they be merged somehow? I do remember the password for both accounts. Radulfr (talk) 13:07, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

- @DerHexer: Any update on this? Years ago I accidentally made two accounts (CFynn on Wikipedia and Cfynn on Commons) which are both global and have been wanting to merge them (to CFynn) for a long time. Cfynn (talk) 07:20, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Cfynn: The tool will be delayed for months and it's not yet clear if we will ever get an account merge tool. My suggestion would be to have Cfynn@commonswiki renamed to CFynn. Therefore, I had to rename CFynn@commonswiki to a temporary name like CFynn (usurped). Its 168 edits wouldn't be connected with your global account (nor the 333 edits on enwiki) but you would have CFynn@enwiki and Cfynn@commonswiki combined which would stongly reduce the number of login changes. - User:DerHexer: So are stewards now willing to make local renames? Back in May, I was told that I would have to wait for a few more week until the merging extension becomes available. If possible, could you please rename Stefan4@commonswiki into Stefan2@commonswiki? It would simplify things a lot for me if I won't need to log in and log out all of the time when switching from one project to another. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:42, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

- @Stefan2: You probably noticed that we had some problems with getting your account renamed. I failed twice so that a system administrator had to push it from shell. Afterwards I moved your userpages. Please go to Special:MergeAccount now, submit your password and get your account unified. Please merge accounts that have the same email address attached to them or allow users to merge them themselves if no email address has been attached yet. This gives a lot of duplicate accounts that will never be used again and edit history will get scattered amongst those accounts. 92.68.11.26

I also have almost the same situation but I'm using the account ru:User:Rex that has to be renamed because it's not global. I have the global account ru:User:Alex Rex but I'm not using it now, just put a redirect in my native wiki. But if I have to rename my active account I'd better prefer merge it with my other empty global account. How can it be done? You're talking about six weeks but your announcement declares the deadline in this april. Can I be in time in this case? 212.92.133.194 07:46, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
