These are also principles we use since 2010 to train librarians, I agree with them. Some points I believe in are also:

  • use and show the actual wiki while presenting, not just a slide condensate;
  • teach them how to learn (e.g. how to search help pages and template manuals), don't focus on details;
  • don't let them go away without having completed something on wiki, however small.

The main struggle however is to find a task suitable for completion in 1 h by a person with just 2-3 hours training. We have some solutions but they need more testing. --Nemo 17:07, 4 October 2015 (UTC) P.s.: In my experience however 2 hours are not enough for a true practical session, so it's usually in 3+3 hours blocks or similar.Reply
