Talk:Learning patterns/Annual Wikimedia CEE meeting: drafting the programme

Invitation for participation

I'd like to kindly invite here for collaboration on this learning pattern all people who have taken part in programme drafting in all Wikimedia CEE Meetings, held since 2012. This refers first to the international programme committee of WMCEE 2015,

whose experience is mainly reflected in the contents so far. But it also extends to all national programme committee members from previous editions of the conference. Having worked on WMCEE 2014 programme, I should say that we had a different approach on steps 3 and 4. In 2014 we worked more in top-down approach (we have topics and we need to find speakers to cover them) instead of bottom-up approach this year (we have speakers and we need to find how they will cover topics). Both of these approaches had advantages and disadvantages: for example, in 2014 we managed to cover all topics requested by participants, however, several topics were not prepared enough, while in 2015 GLAM was requested by participants but was not covered, which is especially disappointing given we had a chance to have Swedes and Finns who are really good at it. It would be interesting to compare both approaches, but Learning patterns format is probably not very good for it as it is suited for offering one solution but not two — NickK (talk) 22:28, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Dear Nick, I would definitely LOVE to see the '2014 approach described here, and I strongly believe the learning pattern can accommodate all approaches, as long as each contains some element of learning and building of experience. Would you like to describe the Ukrainian experience, please, I slightly rearranged the page in this sense. A comparison in the end may come handy :) →Spiritia 22:57, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
