Learning Pattern Ideas from diversity conference

edit

Here are some learning pattern ideas I have from the Wikimedia Diversity Conference in Berlin the weekend of 9 November. Obviously, a lot more could exist - these are just briefly what I can think of from the limited sessions I could attend!:

  • Having reoccurring editing sessions helps retention (e.g., WikiWomen's Collaborative India)
  • For workshops and/or editing events, choose a specific topic for more targeted outreach (e.g., Wikimedia Sverige's outreach)
  • For gender diversity, partner with institutions with women already there! (e.g., Wikimedia Education Program; WMDC GLAM programs)
  • Understand the needs and interests of your local community before developing a more structured strategy (e.g., WikiIndaba, A2K priority areas)
  • A Friendly Space policy helps at events
  • .... SO MANY MORE!

Feel free to add others! Jwild (talk) 22:57, 12 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am very sorry that I missed it. My train was delayed. Perhaps next time! John Andersson (WMSE) (talk) 18:02, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
No worries John, I'll make sure to let you know personally when we schedule our next one. Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 20:18, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
