KDE documentation in MediaWiki format

Now, what will be really nice, is to translate the KDE documentation a MediaWiki format, Wiki by its dynamic nature is in my opinion an ideal tool for documentation, its also very nice for translation. Wikibooks, would be a nice place for this.

wikipedia features

Sounds very nice. The webservice in the wikipedia software is of course usable for applications on all platforms, and even using client-side javascript.

Considering the usefullness of it all, it seems to me very usefull to have 2 features on the wikipedia:

• stable version markings on articles, because you don't to be stuck with a just vandalized version of an article
• summaries of articles, each article has a summary of one or two lines, just indicating what it is about. Of course one could also use the first 150 characters of each article as such, but an "official" summary would be nicer. Summaries offer the option to show the summary to the user with an option to see more.

My current thought is that it is fairly easy to build a piece of javascript that webmasters can use in their webpages to get info from the wikipedia for explanation of certain terms.

Status of Wikipedia Webservice?

What is the status of the Wikipedia Webservice? Is anything running yet? Is there a WSDL file available?

API Edit access

Will this include access to adding edits as well (of course registering the change in the page history, etc.)? If so, might that solve the problem of restricted access in certain countries in that any server (albeit not by known proxy IP's which may be blocked by Wikipedia) could be made to add content? (Not sure if this is a dumb question or not--anyhow, it seems to fit in with the distributed computing concept I read Ward Cunningham was talking about at some recent conference or other...

Would someone please link to this article (or better yet the Wikipedia API article) from the Wikipedia mash-up article, since that's what all of this would allow (I can't make edits where I am)...Thanks...
