Status check
editWhat's the status of this project? The Phase 1/2 timelines seem like they're old. Is this still somewhere on Community Tech's roadmap? czar 08:54, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Czar: This project has been long completed. We now have databases which store page assessments when users assess pages. A lot of tools are making use of these assessments like the popular pages reports. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 22:45, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- @NKohli (WMF), thanks! I was interested in this part:
Is this still on your roadmap, or up to the community to decide, or something else? czar 01:39, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Phase 2 (which is not yet concrete) will be to migrate away from using WikiText to record page assessments, and instead, recording them in the database directly via an API and client-side interface. This phase will be fleshed out further once phase 1 is complete.
- @Czar: Thanks for drawing my attention to that. We never got around to doing that. My recollection is that we did not hear much enthusiasm about doing that and we dropped it from our roadmap. I will update the project page to reflect that. Thank you. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 19:47, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks and ah, that's a shame. A lot of wasted edits are spent adding and removing banner parameters. Where would be the best place to restart that discussion? czar 22:44, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Czar: My understanding is that a change like that (moving away from wikitext and adding an interface for recording assessments) will require community consensus. Maybe the Village pump is where you can start that discussion? This would make a good fit for a wishlist proposal next year if there is community support. Thanks Czar. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 03:36, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
