Talk:Building a content partnership with a cultural institution in a nutshell

I fail to understand phase 0. Wikipedia exists in many languages and you do not need to represent any particular wikipedia. What is important is that you represent Wikipedia. This notion is further abused by the example of the Tropenmuseum where the Indonesian communities will be very much the most relevant partner. Thanks, GerardM 07:02, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Phase 0 was deliberately named that way, it is not part of the cultural partnership per se but a perpetual task. GLAM cooperation might be possible without involving Wikipedia at all, depending on the scale of the cooperation and the work done by others. Right now, the only universally known project from the Wikimedia universe is Wikipedia, it is in most cases the first thing a GLAM will "know" about us even before we approach them. -- Mathias Schindler 07:08, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- When you approach a GLAM, you approach them not as a member of a specific Wikipedia, you approach them because you represent all of Wikipedia. Obviously much needs to be done in all of our projects but this is exactly why you approach a GLAM, they become part of our solution. The Tropenmuseum is well aware that the Wikipedia in Sranang is not a shiny example of what we do, it will not stop them from providing us with material about Suriname, slavery, the Maroon. - I tried contact museum in Lithuania, Klaipėda. They offered only very small amout of photos paid awfully expensive (my salary is not sufficient for such action), if any at all. (In Lithuania there is not freedom of panorama, so I risk very much. It is risky even if I don't publish it anyvhere and anytime ever. It's a pity. (P. S. I hope, this information will not be used to delete (some) photos, uploaded by me). What should I do? --Kusurija (talk) 21:45, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
