Deleting Dubious Statistics

There is an article that has some dubious statistics with no references. I added a request for a citation for the stats on the talk page of the article. I also did a minimal web search to see if I could find it myself (but couldn't). How long should I wait before I go ahead and delete the stats?

Should I be bold and just do it???
