General comments
edit- We fully agree the general comments of the Russian Wikivoyage.
- The visual editor editor is a too small step to attract new contributors. A completely new development of a wiki 2.0 software would have been much better.
Summary
editThe summary is a group of summary sentences and associated keywords that describe the relevant topic(s). Below is an example.
The first column (after the line number) should be a single sentence. The second column should be a comma-separated list of keywords about that sentence, and so on. Taken together, all the sentences should provide an accurate summary of what was discussed with the specific community.
Technical developments
editLine | Statement (summary sentence) | keywords |
1 | Kartographer: The kartographer extension still lacks of some urgently features. E. g. pin numbers are limited to 99. Internationalisation is not supported. | kartographer, maps |
2 | Mobile Editing: Many (most) use Wikivoyage on their mobile devices when being on the road. The mobile version should be supported in a proper way. Mobile users have no chance to add a museum to an article on their mobile phone. Adding a template (without knowing anything about wiki templates) should be possible and is essential. Every local wiki should be able to add a list of favourite templates to the mobile editor. The user should just see an "add sight" button then. | visual editor, mobile editing |
Interproject relations

3 | Commons: a wiki is the most unusable software for a media repository. People even add categories like Berlin photographs taken on 2017-01-01 manually on the description pages. This is medieval. There should be a database behind the repository, finding such picture categories just by searching the database after scanning the exif data. Wikimedia Commons should get rid of the wiki software immediately and should be replaced by a modern database based software. | commons, software, media-data, database |
4 | Editing Wikidata: Our templates support wikidata in a more or less thoroughly way. German Wikivoyage owns the most developed templates fetching all necessary data (e. g. of a museum) directly from wikidata. But most travellers (readers and many authors) are not familiar with wikidata (mostly even not with the wiki software) and the visual editor does not help here. Editing wikidata directly from the local wiki by using simple forms is very important. | visual editor, mobile editing, wikidata |
