Administrator access

Srdjan m@bswiktionary

Requested the adminship 7 days ago on February 24, 2017 at 15:58 (UTC). The only bureaucrat, Dijan, has been inactive on the project for well over 2 years (their last edit was made on August 16, 2014 at 21:22 (UTC)). Srdjan m (talk) 16:22, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello Ala for small projects we don't grant permanent adminship, you have to ask for temporary one Mardetanha talk 22:15, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
@Mardetanha: Yeah I knew, but there is 2 inactive permanent admins there! so I think we can make باسم permanent like them!? and if I wanna ask about temporary for 1 years, I must open a new discussion there or just change the request here?! Thanks--Alaa :)..! 22:45, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

Alp Er Tunqa@azbwiki

This wiki also has only one active admin--Alp Er Tunqa (talk) 08:27, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Three support, two oppose. I am not sure that there exists a consensus to grant you even a temporal adminship. Ruslik (talk) 17:33, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
  •   Not done Discussion open sufficient length of time with significant opposition. The link in request is old; current opinions are even more opposed. Even though some of the opposition seems to be "newer" members who may have only edited to partake in the discussion, the oppositiion of established users is significant enough to demonstrate there is no consensus to allow Alp Er Tunqa access to the administrative toolkit on AzbWiki at this time. Thank you for volunteering. -- Avi (talk) 16:21, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Oversight access

Wikispecies

You may wish to consider the above two "bundled" together for convenience or separate them if you think it's necessary. Since Oversight needs two users and we had two nominations, then it seems like it may be helpful to consider the requests together.

We both passed our nominations with no objection but there were less than 25 votes—although they were close and there was ample opportunity for input from users. Note that both Dan and I have successful CheckUser status at species and so have also been identified to the WMF, are members in good standing, etc. (A third CheckUser was also promoted at the same time on that wiki but did not seek Oversight.) We have tried to make the site more self-sustaining and so requesting advanced user rights rather than seek Stewards whenever something that is internal to the project happens is useful for us. I hope that you'll use your discretion to find us suitable candidates with enough trust from the community. @Dan Koehl:. —Justin (koavf)TCM 21:21, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

Not done Stewards have no leeway in this regard. Your requests were already marked as unsuccessful by a local bureaucrat. --MF-W 21:31, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

Rastrojo@eswiki

Looking these pages (stats 1 and stats 2) I note that Rastrojo has not activity as CU in the last year. Please remove his flag if stats are right. Regards, Jmvkrecords (Intra talk) 05:50, 2 March 2017 (UTC).

@Jmvkrecords: CU policy criteria for inactivity means absolute inactivity (no edits, no log actions and no use of the tool) to qualify for automatic removal. Unless eswiki has a stricter inactivity rule with regards to CU, which the last time I looked it didn't, I don't think we can remove him. Regards, —MarcoAurelio 11:32, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
@MarcoAurelio: estoy confundido.
—MarcoAurelio 12:45, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Done As I have already argued multiple times, doing self-requested removals is totally allowed. --MF-W 10:12, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

You might have argued that multiple times, but I believe that messes up the (local) rights logs, so would rather not do it. Savhñ 00:28, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
@MF-Warburg:, there is no conflict of interest reason to prevent it, but Savh's point remains in that if local crats have the ability, it should be done locally so that the local logs are complete. In such cases, if the local crats are unresponsive for an excessive length of time, it is probably better for the steward to grant themselves local crat rights and do the bit change on the local project, rather than do it through the steward interface for log purposes. That being said, if the crats are not excessively slow in responding, we should give them a chance to perform the duties for which they were elected instead of clomping over them with our steel-toed steward boots (for that matter, I need a new pair, mine have a hole in the left toe from kicking Hexer every time he falls asleep at a meeting  ). -- Avi (talk) 15:53, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Not wanting to nitpick, but the logs were already broken when they started letting non-stewards removing this kind of permissions locally. About this topic, I can understand both positions and don't think anything damaging has been done, specially if we think that the user wanted to have their cross-wiki bits removed. And I disagree with granting ourselves local rights for this, that'd be against the stewards policy. Steward actions are to be performed at Meta except when it is not possible to do so. In this case, it is possible. So the options are two: using the expansive approach by MF-W or asking the user to go reach their local bureaucrats if they're able to do this task; or third, act as proxies and post ourselves the request at the relevant board instead of playing ping-pong with an user. I personally while I don't like the so called 'bureaucrat unchecking' I try to respect it. Regards, —MarcoAurelio 16:02, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

I'm sorry if my request is a waste of time. When in doubt, restore my statut on frwiki. --Superjuju10 [Aubline available to you], 21:02, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for your past work and sorry for any inconvenience. Defender (talk) 18:12, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
(Just to clarify, the procedure in effect there was general procedure for denominating an admin in ukwiki - one has to notify him or her about the intention beforehand. We do not have inactivity specific rules so Nickispeaky was going to run a normal week long denomination vote with inactivity as the reason for doing that, but Erud just agreed to give up the flag herself. This is not a rage quit or something like that though for sure so there should not be a problem that the day onhold practice was skipped.)--Base (talk) 00:30, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Dear MF-Warburg! Please consider my explanation for this matter. I didn't want to bring it into the discussion, because it would be distorted and chewed again. Best regards! -- Mirzali (talk) 06:20, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
The candidate was an admin and abused the access (here). I commented on Embassy page, 3 of supporters are not even active on Zazaki wikipedia. So, there are only invited accounts for the vote. P.S. I will not discuss the request here.--Gomada (talk) 08:53, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
This is not the discussion page Gomada. You don't have to pretend to have the final word. -- Mirzali (talk) 06:01, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
The steward that decides this should review the Meta RFC above, it seems User:Quentinv57 desysopped Mirzali because of this 2013 discussion. --Rschen7754 19:12, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
  • When Quentin desysopped Mirzali, there was no sanction preventing Mirzali from seeking adminship in the future. As best I can tell, there is neither a tenure nor an activity requirement to opine in discussions about adminiship on Zazaki wikipedia. Nor is there one about fluency. Looking at the more recently active users, it is 3:1 in favor. At this point, I think it is reasonable to allow Mirzali temporary access (3 months, let us say) with him knowing that he can be re-brought to RfC at any time and if it is decided that he has once again violated the local rules the access will be stripped. Fellow stewards, your thoughts? -- Avi (talk) 18:14, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
    • If no one has any suggestions or objections, I may go ahead and implement this. Last call, folks  . -- Avi (talk) 15:02, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
@Avraham: He can also edit without adminship and the other admin (Asmen) is his good friend and they work there together (you can also see here). would you like to turn diq wikipedia to a battlefield again? You can take a look at his abusing here once again before you decide. I think this message of a steward is enough to see that, a third chance must not give. Cheers!--Gomada (talk) 21:54, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
@Avraham: What does this Kurd have to do with our domestic (inner-Zaza) affairs? What is he talking about a nonsense like a third chance? I was only desysopped once and that is to thank him and his provocations with other Kurds, which he hurled at me then. Since that time, they have disappeared again. They are concerned only with political intentions from the beginning and not with the Zazaki language itself. I wrote that to him, but he did not think it appropriate to answer me because of his arrogance. He twists the matter back in the wrong direction through his inappropriate polemics as before. -- Mirzali (talk) 15:02, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Squabbling is unbecoming of editors and admins both. From what I have seen, Mirzali was allowed to re-request adminship from the community after his privileges were removed, which he did. There is one voice in opposition, and more voices in support, even giving less or no weight to sleeper accounts. However, the history is such that Mirzali should be given a short leash, which is why I'd start with three months. Gomada, I am pretty certain you will not delay in reporting any abuse by Mirzali to the stewards, so I'm sure Mirzali will want to act extra carefully. Remember, editors may disagree, but using administrative privileges to gain the upper hand in a content dispute is grounds for desysopping. We afford people second chances; so long as they do not abuse them. As such, and without any other stewards providing their input, I will close this request with temporary privileges for three months. Mirzali, please do not make me regret affording you this chance. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 17:11, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

@Avraham: Seriously? After this sentence "What does this Kurd have to do with our domestic (inner-Zaza) affairs?" Congratulations, you started the hate action on diq wikipedia again! Info about Zazas--Gomada (talk) 19:45, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
@Gomada:, as I said, if you feel he has used his tools improperly, bring it to the stewards. If you feel he does not have the temperament to be an admin, take it to your local board. @Mirzali:, there is no rule preventing anyone of any extraction from participating in Wikipedia, so long as they do so in accordance with the policies and guidelines. Moreover, alterative poimts of view can help flesh out an article as long as they conform with the Five pillars. Whilst I am not sure calling someone a "Kurd" in an of itself is an insult, preventing participation due to political belief is inappropriate. On the other hand, Gomada, you have certainly painted yourself as an opponent to Mirzali, having been part and parcel of the kerfuffle in 2013. Both of you, step back, take a deep breath, and think about how to work together. Otherwise, Mirzali's adminship won't last that long (it's only for 3 months) and if the stewards have to step in and police the project due to rampant violations, they may take all of this (including the growing personal animosity) into consideration. Wikipedia does require a modicum of maturity from its editors, and more so from its administrators. It behooves you both to keep that in mind. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 21:49, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

If no message left untranslated, you can ignore the message but the above line means that if you face such translations in future please be sure to do it on translatewiki. Importer on test.Wikipedia and test2.Wikipedia

I am importer of it.wikiversity and administrator of it.wikiversity beta.wikiversity test.wikipedia and test2.wikipedia. I would need the flag of test.Wikipedia and test2.Wikipedia to do various tests with the use of the XML file import tool for it.wikiversity to practice some import duties and to have sufficient practice to request the flag Importer on new wikis in the future to help out at communities who want to open a new wiki and finished the incubation stage (in particular new wikiversity). I ask the flag in both test wiki to test import with the various extensions installed, especially with: Extension Translate (test.Wikipedia) and Extension Education_Program (test2.Wikipedia). Thanks Samuele2002 (Talk!) 22:11, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

On test wiki you should probably request the import right locally and then come here if there is a consensus. Ruslik (talk) 19:10, 13 March 2017 (UTC) On test2wiki the page is test2wiki:Wikipedia:Administrators_and_bureaucrats. Ruslik (talk) 19:16, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes thank you I had not made the request to them because they still need the intervention of a steward and considering they are the test wiki I have not made the request there, but I do now. --Samuele2002 (Talk!) 22:46, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
Before you play around with the translation tool on even more wikis, you should maybe fix this. Also, if by "the flag Importer on new wikis" you mean that one I think about, testing something with the Translate and Education Program extensions will be of no help. --MF-W 10:09, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
I re-explain better I need to flag impraticirmi with imports in general to be able to make the best use of the tool properly and it.Wikiversity. I should also testareg effects of an import them to pages that relate to the extension because of Education_Program it.Wikiversity we are considering to install the extension and would like to see if the import of pages of this extension imports the pages as the other, or has something different. Also I need to force the flag on test.Wikipedia translate extension of already translated pages because at this time the extent of test.Wikipedia has problems (I have already done so to report it on Phabricator) and whereas I am by installing the extension translate even on beta.Wikiversity I would need to do tests to import pages already translated from Meta-Wiki and I need to test this thing without the risk of doing damage on beta.Wikiversity. sorry if my English is not good </ small> --Samuele2002 (Talk!) 15:50, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
What does "impraticirmi" and "testareg" mean? --MF-W 20:48, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Comment I believe that a consensus in this situation is unnecessary. These are not community wikis or content, they are test wikis and therefore there is no risk that any significant damage can be caused with the permits. The user that requests them is well established in several projects and I believe that I do not see any problem in granting them (at least temporarily). At some point when I asked them to also request a test wiki, I was not asked for a community consensus as it is being done here. —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 16:52, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

In fact, significant damage can be caused with this group even on testwiki. --MF-W 20:48, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
Indeed - you can really mess things rather badly with importupload. —MarcoAurelio 21:56, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
But I have no intention of doing damage. I know how the importupload and I have already used this feature many times on it.wikiversity so I do not run the risk of doing damage And if I had to do some damage I could still delete massively imported pages. And then the amount of pages that put them in a subpage user:Samuele2002/test import so as to avoid possible problems. --Samuele2002 (Talk!) 22:29, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
