Global rollback for Luca M

Not ending before 10 January 2021 16:07 UTC

Hi everyone, I am a sysop from it.Wikipedia and a mover from Commons. My mai activity is the patrolling and I do it usually in it.wikipeida and Commons, but I often edit in other projects too. The flag could help me in this activity.--Luca•M 16:07, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

  •   Oppose. Luca M, I don't see evidence of you being involved in cross-wiki counter-vandalism efforts and that is what global rollback is for. You do have some cross-wiki contributions, but they are from 2018 or older and mostly relate to writing about a football club, not about counter-vandalism. If you are interested in helping patrolling other projects I strongly recommend joining SWMT and then after a while coming back with proof that you actually need global rollback. Otherwise you can just apply for local flags in the wikis you are interested to contribute to the most. --Base (talk) 16:16, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose per above. --Saroj Uprety (talk) 16:27, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose You don't have active cross wiki activity. You are involved in just a few projects heavily. Unfortunately I can't think that I will support you. You'd better be a little more active on cross-wiki. --Uncitoyentalk 16:59, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose I don't see enough counter-vandalism activity to need this permission. BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 21:01, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose per above. Great user, but I don't see enough counter-vandalism activity, sorry. Boost your crosswiki patrolling and I'll be happy to turn my vote next time. --Wim b 01:12, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

@Luca M Will you consider withdrawing for now and try like say 2 months later with more xwiki experience? Just a suggestion. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:49, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
@Camouflaged Mirage Yes, it is what I am going to do (I have already begin with some projects such as it.wikictionary and it.wikinews).--Luca•M 11:52, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello ,
Can you give me the permissions global-rollbacker I used to edit interface in Wikiquote ([1]), now I am autoreview, editor, reviewer, sysop in wikisource, autopatrolled and patroller in hewikipedia and autopatrolled in hewikivoyage and meta.
I want the permission to make it easier for me to fix vandalism מושך בשבט (talk) 12:42, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

@מושך בשבט Are you looking for global interface editor or global rollback? Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:43, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
It will also help me use [2] מושך בשבט (talk) 12:43, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
global rollback. sorry --מושך בשבט (talk) 12:45, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I mean what permission are you asking for, you filed this under rollback (move from others) with the title of interface editor.@מושך בשבט Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:45, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Would you mind fixing the content of your request, it still read global interface editor? Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:46, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Seems fixed by requestor....I will say they are trusted in a couple of wikis, like the case above, there isn't much global work, they didn't have much xwiki crosswiki reverts, hence, per the usual advice, take part in SWMT and then actively revert vandalism in many languages projects, thanks for volunteering but it's too soon in my view. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:53, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
@Camouflaged Mirage, I occasionally want to get into recent changes in Wikiquote, Wiktionary, Wikinews and more, and I am not comfortable using SWMT מושך בשבט (talk) 13:27, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I mean fine then, don't need to join SWMT, but more regular recent change patrol will be better before applying for GR. I don't see too much crosswiki activity. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:33, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Let me AGF, but this seems canvassing in some sort, please refrain from using "can you support" when asking for opinions. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:17, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose If you want to "occasionally want to get into recent changes...", you can do so without GR; the undo tool is usually available for such purposes, and there are anti-vandalism tools that can also help here. Leaderboard (talk) 13:31, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello! I am May. I am an administrator on the zhwiki and a member of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team. I always use SWViewer to revert vandalism. (my global contribution) I would like to contribute more so that I request global rollback permission which helps me revert vandalism effectly. Thank you!--May♡♡→♡℃Talk 13:58, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

  • Yes, I've seen that you active sometimes on SWViewre. I've looked at your edits on 20-30 wikis randomly. On some of these wikis and other wikis, edits are renamer processes generally. You have undone edits on Chinese, Japanese and English projects generally. But I have seen on Wikidata that you are constantly undo each other's edits with users from Chinese wiki projects. (ex: Iokseng, Ellery, HenryXVII) [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] Normally, I (or us as global rollbackers) use undo/rollback against vandals and destructive edits on small wikis continuously. A few days after you delete a page, other users open the same pages. Or other admins undelete to these pages. These edits' copies on Wikidata seems edit wars according to edits of other users or admins, or deletion and page deletion, page creation logs on Chinese Wikipedia. But I'm not quite sure. Since I can't speak Chinese, I can't fully understand the situation. I would like you explain this situation. --Uncitoyentalk 14:56, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I am admin when I delete a page on zhwiki the page in wikidata will change at the same time.--May♡♡→♡℃Talk 15:12, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
  • After few days some pages what you delete, other admins undelete for these pages. ex: [9] Is it a problem between you and other users or are you doing these in accordance with the rules? I guess you delete empty categories etc per logs, but after a few days other users open the same category. These situations that I don't understand. --Uncitoyentalk 15:24, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
  • In fact,I do not edit in wikidata, all the edit in wikidata is as a result of CSD,AFD or DRV in zhwiki. The users can recreate a page after csd if the page is not protected.--May♡♡→♡℃Talk 15:27, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
I know it, and when I first looked I saw these edits/logs like a edit war on Wikidata for me. If your actions are within the rules, there is no problem. --Uncitoyentalk 15:38, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
The admins on zhwiki delete a page must within the rules. And admins cannot involve in edit war, otherwise will be blocked.--May♡♡→♡℃Talk 15:42, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Do note that this user only meta edits is to this application, there isn't any participation in xwiki anti abuse work etc, as well as they are blocked in zhwp. Gr =/= wikipedia rollbacker, there are 730 projects involved. Ability to recognize abuse is more important, though kindness is important too but isn't the key here. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:52, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Weak oppose You have really good admin stats in the Chinese Wikipedia (I am also a Chinese Wikipedian), but GR needs lots of cross-wiki anti-vandalism experience. I have seen that almost all your cross-wiki activities are renaming username. --Matttest (talk) 03:47, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I think I am too active in renaming so that everyone cannot see I revert vandalism in different wikis every day.--May♡♡→♡℃Talk 04:38, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Global_renamers/Stats is a good reference to see how active someone in Global renaming. 140 renames are done by them since they had the rights in like say not sure when. How does it compare to other renamers? Not sure, not a renamer myself. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:55, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
@蟲蟲飛 Just to be sure, is it June last year you had the rights? Make sure I am having the correct information. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:57, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Weak support I checked your editing record again and I found that you have some cross-wiki anti-vandalism experience. I will wait for your new edits. --Matttest (talk) 04:53, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
@Matttest Hello, I can't know how much xwiki experience you as a 5 months old account have (and I don't see any xwiki experience you had), I am sure that @蟲蟲飛 had more crosswiki experience than you in reverting vandalism etc. Yours is 0 experience. Just a note. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 10:00, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Strike per talk, I am just pointing out the difference in experience, might sound harsh, I didn't mean it. Apologies. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:22, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Neutral Thanks for your explanations on the subjects what I didn't understand very well. Since you didn't receive warnings or blocks from relevant users on Chinese Wikipedia, you are acting according to the rules. As I said, your cross-wiki activity isn't too bad, but there could be a little more. Regards. --Uncitoyentalk 07:34, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

  •   Neutral Per Uncitoyen + Nadzik, I seen guc, seems to start reverting only from 23 Dec, @蟲蟲飛: Correct me if I am wrong. I mean active reverting. It's just 12 Jan here, 2-3 weeks of reverting. As my usual standards, I typically hope to see people revert for 2-3 months before supporting. While that being said, I didn't see much errors in reverting. I agree it's quite early for this but I don't oppose as I didn't see any errors. Not supporting is that the short duration (i.e. truly there is some experience, but not the level we typcally ask for GRs). Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:22, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Willing to reconsider if there are older period of crosswiki reverting, so if I am mistaken do point it out. Thanks. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:37, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
I seen an odd revert, nothing wrong but why the candidate used chinese edit summary on dewp, I will say this can be confusing to the local users who may puzzle what is exactly going on? Try to use English summaries each time. Thank you for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:14, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Support: Trusted user. --Easterlies (talk) 15:37, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Support There's no problems, also check how she answered these questions. --Nightwayyyyy 18:09, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Answering questions isn't that important anyway, the real need for the tool is what that is important. And quoting from GR page it is "For consideration, users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki countervandalism or anti-spam activities (for example, as active members of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team) and make heavy use of revert on many wikis, ... providing evidence of this.". What I noticed in this RFGR is that there are many users who aren't involved in crosswiki reversion work coming here to support, I think this is due to the fact that the user is a sysop on zhwp and people deemed them as trusted per zhwp standards. However, this is a global userright and as the instructions state "Please note that global rollbacker discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.", what will be useful from these comments is how the candidate is suitable to hold Global rollback, which mean plainly how the candidate meet the requirements in the GR page for GR. Having said that we typically allow everyone to participate in these !votes but the trend is a little out of the norms for GR applications. Nevertheless, we of course welcome external inputs as this shouldn't be a small-circle voting. For neutral voters like me, what will be useful if the supporters can produce evidence of the heavy use of reverts...active in anti-spams on many wikis, this will then sway me to support and help in determining the consensus. Just my 2 cents but I had to point this out here. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 18:20, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Neutral Anti-vandalism activity on the x-wiki still seems to be low, I think. But she's a trusted user, so she's okay to get a chance. --mirinano (talk) 18:28, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Global rollback for Derpdart56

Not ending before 25 January 2021 16:19 UTC

Hello! I am asking this because I would like to fight vandals on all wikis, not just simple. If I got this role, I think I would do a great job at reverting vandalism. Thank you. --Derpdart56 (talk) 16:19, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

  •   Oppose You have edits on 5 wikis only yet. You are already rollbacker on Simple English Wikipedia (you are most active only here). If you want to fight against vandals in all wikis, you have to show us this according to contributing to many wikis. If you regularly revert edits in dozens of wikis for a month or two, you will be more easily selected when you are nominated yourself again. --Uncitoyentalk 16:30, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose Per Uncitoyen, you are only active in reverting on simplewiki. Revert on enwiki, wikiquote, and wikibooks, for example, and you will have easy access to global rollback. Hope that helps, BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 16:47, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Not the best of advice, I will say join SWMT and revert heavily on multiple wikis for around 2-3 months, you will be a good candidate. For enwiki, there are local rollback available, and wikibooks have automatic promotion to reviewer which include rollback after around 100 edits or so (roughly there are some finer details). I will recommend reverting on wikis that don't have local rollback rights and in multiple language. The whole point we want to see is that candidates use heavily rollback on wikis that are in languages they don't know, and in as many types of wikis as possible (like wikiquotes, wiktionaries, wikiversities etc). This is just for us to trust them in holding the permission in all wikis as no doubt you are trusted as local rollbacker, but not all projects are the same, someone with GR incorrectly rollback in some languages they don't understand can cause not only local damage, but also the image of global community on these projects will be affected (i.e. we will be seen poorly in these communities sight). I hope you understand, thank you for volunteering, I find this too soon regrettably. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:18, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose as per the obvious lack of experience. I would suggest gaining experience via SWMT or getting rollback locally on the wiki's you want to use it on. --Wiki13 (talk) 17:14, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

  •   Oppose Please gain your experience on the "small wikis" first. --Saroj Uprety (talk) 17:45, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose, you have edited on only one wiki, other projects have only a few real edits. You are a rollbacker on a wiki that historically gave that permission to anyone who would ask. Please gain some experience and do some cross-wiki work, then maybe we talk about GR. Nadzik (talk) 19:20, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey! I am active in all Wikipedias of the world and also Wikimedia Commons and Wikidatassa! I actively follow recent changes and undo vandalism the most on Finnish Wikipedia and English Wikipedia and Wikidata. I’m not in any of these Rollbacker, so I would like a global Rollbacker license to repeal vandalism. I have not had the inhibition fiwikissä over half a year and trust me there: I am currently a user who evaluates and approves the changes made by others and / or reject and annul them. It’s a big task and affects what kind of content a Wikipedia reader sees. I have accepted the only substantive edits and always refute all the vandalism. In English Wikipedia, the fight against vandalism produces inconveniences: many rollbackers have time to undo the mess before me. --Maantietäjä (talk) 07:23, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

  •   Oppose I recall your making a similar request which was denied, which you should have ideally noted in your statement. The problems still stand: you haven't explained your fi.wikipedia block (which date to as recent as August 2020), and your edit matrix is bad (that is, I do not see much cross-wiki experience). Considering that you mainly work in three wikis, I think you should request GR locally instead. Leaderboard (talk) 09:37, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello everyone. I have been contributing to different Wikimedia projects for 10 years. For the last year, my free time has increased due to Covid-19, so I generally started to contribute more to wiki projects. Since 2014, I have had admin experiences on different wiki projects (Turkish Wikinews, Turkish Wikisource, Wikimedia Turkey, Turkish Wiktionary). I have been an administrator on Turkish Wikipedia for 5 years and have been a checkuser for the last year there. I'm a global renamer for the last 6 months. Before I became a global renamer, I did cross-wiki activity on 290 wikis as far as I was calculated. Although this number isn't more than 350 wikis at the moment, I think it is close to this number. Maybe these numbers may be small for someones, because these are subjective. But for the last 6 months, I have been trying to make requests on the SRG and global sysop requests. Generally I tried to keep my cross-wiki activity balanced. I have been serving as a Meta-admin for 2 weeks. Also I am 6th non-global sysop user have the most edits for the last 10 months, since Global sysops/Requests was opened. See: [10] My cross-wiki activity has decreased a little over the last month because my real life, but it won't cause a huge inactivity. Last year and this year, some global sysops were also removed per inactivity policy as usual. I think this year I will be more helpful for other global sysops and small wikis with the effect of the pandemic. 2FA is open already. Thanks for your comments and questions. --Uncitoyentalk 20:33, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Bluap

I would like to apply for IP Block Exempt Status, for my userID Bluap. I used to edit English Wikipedia frequently, but have lived in China for 12 years, and am affected by the Chinese Firewall. For full details, see my ticket #2020122410005238. However, it has been 10 days since I requested by email, so I am repeating the request here. Bluap (talk) 08:21, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Not done @Bluap: You seem to edit exclusively the English Wikipedia, which has its own procedures for requesting an exemption. I moved your ticket to English checkuser queue, please ask them with any further questions. Your ticket number remains the same. Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 17:48, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Wiok

Happy new year!I'm a user of the People's Republic of China and active in Chinese Wikipedia. The reason why this permission is required is that it is not wanted to be blocked by iP when editing Wikipedia in other languages. And when I inspect the new page of Chinese Wikipedia, I will encounter articles translated from other regions, which need to be modified against each other. Sometimes there may be areas to be revised for Wikipedia pages in other languages,So I hope to apply in advance so as not to restrict other languages of Wikipedia editing in mainland China. Global IP block exempt for BlackWidowMovie0

My computer defaults me to ProtonVPN every morning, and I use that for a lot of things to keep my online presence anonymous. I am blocked when attempting to edit, due to blocks on open proxies. I am requesting Global IPBE so I can edit while keeping my VPN on. I will not abuse this permission, even though an SPI has concluded that I have sock-puppeted on enwiki. Full transparency. I'm sorry but how is a user who has half a dozen abusive cu confirmed sockpuppets asking for IPBE? Praxidicae (talk) 21:11, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
@Praxidicae: Incorrect. I have had two confirmed sock-puppets, one was legit, and one was the original account (now retired). BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 21:15, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
No, you have 4 and now you're quibbling about this? Utterly absurd request that you don't qualify for. Praxidicae (talk) 21:16, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

I therefore would like a global IP block exempt permission, thanks. --Hzy980512 (talk) 03:29, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Hzy980512, do you plan to work only at Chinese Wiktionary or in other projects too? If the former it might be a better idea to receive a local IPBE instead. --Base (talk) 09:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Base. Sometimes (but not that often) I work on other Chinese sister projects or even other languages, too. Chinese Wiktionary doesn't have many admins, doesn't have a page dedicated to requests for IPBE and hasn't banned many IPs locally so I came here to request a global IPBE. --Hzy980512 (talk) 10:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
Hzy980512,   Done. The fact that there are few admins is not important, you can even request it on their talk pages, but as you edit multiple projects even if rarely it makes sense to give you the global flag. That being said if you run into a local IP block you will need to request local exemption, the global one is not helpful against those. --Base (talk) 10:15, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I am Maantietäjä! I worked in the Finnish language Wikipedia (mostly), but I'm very much expanded also to other parts. I often see different usernames being changed (i.e. some users want a username change). I thought I could become a global username changer too. I have read Meta-Wiki guidelines and practices relating to, own a global account and I have the language skills to your user page. Hello. I am active member of OTRS team and an administrator on the Persian wikipedia. My main concern for this request is non-Latin user names and abuses that It may cause because of similarities, I think an admin who knows these languages (Arabic and Persian scripts) is vital for global rename team. I have read and understood all relevant rename policies and with global renamer I would help reduce the rename backlogs and contribute to a speedier block review process, easing the burden on other global renamers. Global rename for Waggers

The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Not ending before 28 January 2021 13:37 UTC

I have been an administrator on the English language Wikipedia for nearly 14 years and an active contributor to several other Wikimedia projects. On en-wp I frequently patrol the Usernames for Admin Attention (UAA) board. On that project we have many users who subsequently request an unblock and rename, following action taken at UAA. I would like to be a global renamer so that I can assist with that backlog of unblock requests, renaming users and granting unblocks where appropriate, as an extension to the work I do at UAA. Waggers (talk) 13:37, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

  •   Support Seems trusted, enwp sysop, per my usual standards that GR should be given to large / medium wiki sysops upon request (I don't mind bundle it with their toolkit) who is in good standing (prima facie I don't see any issues, willing to be corrected) and is active (seen their contribs, relatively okay in recent activity). GR isn't a big deal anyway for such cases. Since they are making username blocks, this is welcomed as it reduces work for other renamers, thank you for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:47, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Strong support Waggers is an admin on English Wikipedia for 14 years. I think Waggers is very successful. The blocks that he/she gives for inappropriate usernames and his/her contributions on UAA are also clear. I am sure he/she will be a good job, especially with requests for the English Wikipedia. Good luck. --Uncitoyentalk 15:21, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Support easily meets my criteria. --IWI (talk) 16:05, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
  • One question I want to ask is whether there is a shortage of global renamers that causes difficulty in this user's case. Leaderboard (talk) 17:03, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
    • Hi Leaderboard, good question. Arguably not; at the time of writing there are 93 requests for unblock on en-wp, 13 of which include a request to change the username on unblocking. Of those, all bar one have had some kind of response and that one was only requested earlier today, so actually we're doing quite well at responding to those requests. However there's a difference between responding to a request to check that a user understands why they were blocked and why a change in username is necessary, and being able to action that once they have demonstrated that understanding, and I'd like to be able to help out with the latter - but it's not a disaster if I can't. Hello ,

Can you give me the permissions global-interface-editor? I used to edit interface in Wikiquote ([11]), now I am autoreview, editor, reviewer, sysop in wikisource, autopatrolled and patroller in hewikipedia and autopatrolled in hewikivoyage and meta.
I want the permission to import scripts from the Hebrew Wikipedia and to translate gadgets in commons
Thanks! מושך בשבט (talk) 12:57, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

  • Where do you want to import scripts to? Also, wouldn't a local right on Commons be more appropriate for editing Commons? --MF-W 13:05, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
    • @MF-Warburg, I want to import scripts to wikiquote, wikibooks, wikisource and commons. For this not enough local permission in commons מושך בשבט (talk) 13:19, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
      • It seems you did not read GIE properly. It reads "Interface editors should avoid making routine changes to the interface on larger wikis without prior agreement. Projects with established communities and processes for maintaining scripts should be avoided.". That rules out your usecase for the right. Commons has a plenty of local interface administrators, and a well-estabilished community to manage themselves properly. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 15:32, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Strong oppose The requestor seem to not understand the purpose of the global group properly. They want to use the permission to "translate gadgets in commons", which is out of scope for the global group, as it is not to be used at projects with estabilished community and process for fixing and maintaining scripts. Commons is a well-estabilished project that has a plenty of local int. admins. Global int. editor serve a different purpose: usually well-estabilished developers who help communities to fix bugs (especially those that appeared because of a new MW version was released). Sincerely, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 15:32, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose per Martin Urbanec --DannyS712 (talk) 17:17, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose: it might be supportable if you were going to help translate some script gadgets across all the wikis out there, but you are targeting just a few. You can ask people with relevant permissions in the wikis mentioned to help you, or in case of the smaller projects even run for a temporary interface admin yourself. What I did in the past was creating the translations in my userspace and asked admins to move them accordingly — this way both I did not need the permissions, and I got my authorship properly attributed in translations' history. --Base (talk) 20:40, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Oppose requested use case will be exceeding the expectations of this access, also lack of int-admin on any current project. — xaosflux Talk 15:38, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
  •   Strong oppose, as mentioned by the users above. Nadzik (talk) 19:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Abuse filter helpers for Yining Chen

Hello. I would like to ask for the permission "Abuse filter helpers" because then I can better understand the design and implementation detail of every abuse filters of Wikimedia projects and make better suggestions for their improvement. However, I don't really understand the requirements to apply for this permission, so if I don't qualify, I'm sorry to bother you. Thank you. --Yining Chen (Talk) 11:48, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Have you even read the introduction page for Abuse filter helpers ? Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:49, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Of course. --Yining Chen (Talk) 11:59, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Yes, odd we didn't codify what are the minimum requirements there, but I think the requirements can be seen by the users who hold this permission, Special:GlobalUsers/abusefilter-helper. Ideally candidates should had a close xwiki profile as these candidates and have a valid use case. I just wonder after knowing the filters working how will you use those information for, for which wikis you are intending to make suggestions. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:03, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I may check the abuse filters on a wiki one by one to find that if there are any bugs in them. --Yining Chen (Talk) 12:10, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Do you have experience in reporting bugs for abuse filters anywhere? Sorry for the many questions as I want to understand more of your use case. Thanks. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:11, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I could show that I have the ability to understand and write the code of the abuse filter, but there is only a very unconvincing example to show that I fixed the bugs in the abuse filter. However, if I were get the permission, I would try to find and fix them. If you(and others) think I can't get the permission because of this, I will work harder on fixing the abuse filters. --Yining Chen (Talk) 12:31, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
I mean if there is a track record in reporting errors and then suggesting fixes, it will be easier, any record will be good here. Okay, what wikis will you try to find errors in? Just for clarification. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:34, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Like Meta-wiki, Wikimedia Commons, Chinese Wikipedia, English Wikipedia and Wikidata. --Yining Chen (Talk) 12:44, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Neutral Seems an odd-use case and with very little track record, just a little uncomfortable giving such wide access just to find problems with filters (and without track record of repairing faults). Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:58, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Yining Chen, I would also like to see examples of the suggestions you have made to some public or possibly private (if someone has shared the code with you) filters. If you are only requesting these permissions to begin working with filters then it is not a good idea unfortunately. The permissions are sensitive and are given only to users that have already proven their experience and trustworthiness. --Base (talk) 23:17, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
@Base:Hello. In fact I have already had the permission "abusefilter-view-private" in Chinese Wikipedia. Then I designed an an updated version of the abuse filter 156 in Chinese Wikipedia in August 2020 to implement a proposal and it worked well(I think). Unfortunately, the proposal was defeated, and the abuse filter was not be used. So I don't think this is a valid example. But I still would like to put the code here(even it cannot mean anything):

--Yining Chen (Talk) 00:46, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

I see. At this point I am giving you a   Weak oppose. It indeed seems that rollbackers in zhwiki have the permission to view private filters and you are one, also I do appreciate the example you have provided. That being said I would like more experience when it comes to the global permissions and probably more specific agenda on what kinds of bugs you are going to look for too. I'd say keep up the good work, focus on finding ways to improve public filters and if you will still feel enthusiastic about it (finding bugs is a fun but tiring venture) after gaining extensive track record in several wikis, go for this flag again. It is not a big deal as such but we want to see that it will be put to a proper use. --Base (talk) 04:59, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Comment This user group can view the private data in the filter (all wikis) . And according to your task description, I did not see the necessity of having this permission, you can perform your task without this permission. (`・ω・´) (talk) 11:49, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

I would like to point out that there was a private abuse filter in Chinese Wikipedia that was used to prevent new users from removing CSD templates. But there is something wrong with it that it won't do anything when there is another specific template in the article, and the sysops didn't find it. Finally, a user found that the filter was not working properly and reported it to a sysop, then it was fixed. What I want to say is that I think it is very difficult to find out the bugs in the private abuse filters. --Yining Chen (Talk) 00:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Why is my signature changed per this? @Yining Chen Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:25, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
@Camouflaged Mirage:I take the view that there might be something wrong with my text editor(called "wikiplus"). Please accept my apologies for changing your signature. --Yining Chen (Talk) 14:24, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
@Yining Chen No worries, didn't know is wikiplus....didn't have the edit via wikiplus summary...but this tool is buggy here...so try not to use if possible... Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:26, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
@Yining Chen I don’t believe that the local wiki community cannot debug in time. In addition, you still haven't explained the privacy issues brought by having this permission. (`・ω・´) (talk) 15:30, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Closing as not done. Abusefilter helper permission grants access to private filters on all wikis, therefore high degree of trust is required because they will inevitably able to access filters that would be usually invisible to them because they do not hold sufficient trust on that wiki. I don't see any proof for sufficient proof for such trust in this request, therefore this request is declined. — regards, Revi 09:02, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Stryn, why? Atsme📞📧 09:34, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Per request by an OTRS admin. Stryn (talk) 10:56, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Stryn, he gave no valid reason except that I didn't respond to emails that were sent to the wrong email address, and that he expects a higher level of activity, which does not align with OTRS policy. The primary reason for deactivating an account is to prevent hijacking. My account was never in danger of being hijacked. Please revert your removal of my permissions. Atsme📞📧 11:25, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, stewards will only add / remove global OTRS members upon OTRS admin request. Stewards can't do much here either, OTRS need to be resolved by OTRS team internal processes. I hope you understand. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:27, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the information. It seems odd that they can remove an agent's permission without any discussion. That doesn't seem very fair when all they have to do is simply ask for the removal, and seconds later an agent no longer has OTRS rights - no notification, nothing. They never updated my email address. Atsme📞📧 13:18, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Global Interface Editor for Ladsgroup

The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Not ending before 19 January 2021 21:31 UTC

Hello, I'm CU, 'crat, admin and oversight in Persian Wikipedia (and have been admin for 12 years now), also have been global renamer since its inception (in 2015 IIRC). I'm also helping Wikimedia in technical spaces in my volunteer capacity (trying to keep track of them in here) and would like to have the right to help clean up deprecated js/css or fix performance and security issues in small wikis. For example, currently phab:T72470 but stuff like that comes up a lot. Hope that'd be okay for you. Amir (talk) 21:31, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

I guess yes, based on history. However, GIE seems to be more suitable for this use case as it's editing the interface IMO, GS is more of uncontroversial counter-vandalism and spam which this isn't. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:53, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
