Hello, I'm a member of SWMT and I'm active in the fight against vandalism. I have experience both in the fight against vandalism in the use of the rollback permission. Sometime I wanna eliminate vandalism in some wikis that I don't have a rollback permission on it so I have to undo multiple changes that are made by the same user but with the flag of Global Rollback could undo all the changes that user has done at once, also notice (Sub-reason) that there is no Global rollback who are Arabic native language that can deal easily with fight vandalism in Ar. projects and other nearby languages. --Alaa :)..! 16:41, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[]

@Rschen7754: I think vandal reverts in Arabic language (& other nearby language) is enough previously, specially if you notice that there's no active good users in it (almost 0 or 1 per month), notice also there's no permissions in this small wikis. finally notice that I can request temporary sysop for these wikis but I know that I wanna help in fight against vandalism not in sysop filed. The problem is that global rollback is truly global and gives you rights on all wikis. Candidates need to demonstrate that they are able to revert vandalism in a wide variety of languages, or they will be given rights that they cannot properly use. --Rschen7754 06:11, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[]
@Rschen7754: Thanks for you replay, I don't think it's a problem if the user know how and where to use it, and I repeat that I wanna you to think the load of vandalism that we've in projects (and as you know all ar. users work in ar.wikipedia and other ar.projects became suitable place for vandals), and please don't think that I'm a hat collecting user! I ask for any permission if I wanna use it properly, because of this I mentioned to you that I can request temporary sysop for these wikis but I know that I wanna help in fight against vandalism not in sysop filed. If it has and I just don't see it, then please provide examples of reverts on small wikis / wikis where you don't speak the language so I can evaluate your suitability. @Ajraddatz:   In the Global rollbackers policy & information that don't say that I must been active in anti-spam activities in projects except project of my native language, please take a look in Arabic small projects (wiki-news,source,versity,ionary,quote,books), I don't see GR use the rights there (just in rare condition) although there's a huge vandalism there (notice in these project almost 0 prominent active user per month), and as I said to Rschen7754 above "I can request temporary sysop for these wikis but I know that I wanna help in fight against vandalism not in sysop filed", also in the policy not mentioned that I must being active in anti-spam activities in small wikis only (notice that small wikis mentioned as an example of cross-wiki countervandalism). I'm a rollbacker in 3 projects include wikidata where just 174 user have this permission, and I'm a sysop in 3 wikis also (one of them temporary), finally please as a sub-reason consider the language difference and the problem that we've because no stewards, GS & GR who are ar-n. "For consideration, users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki countervandalism or anti-spam activities and make heavy use of revert on many wikis". It's about having some level of experience in what this toolset is used for. I have a generally quite low standard for this, but I can't find any instances where having this right would have helped for you, because you don't seem to be active in ways that would need it. Having brought the outcome of this request up for discussion to the stewards team and remembering that this is not a vote, and that stewards will determine whether consensus exists; and when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential, we've decided not to grant this request at this time. The user do not show enough involvement in cross-wiki countervandalism as mandated by the policy. I am global rolback and I'm very active in SWMT activities.I request for the Global Sysop flag for administrator actions on wikis without administrators or inactive administrators to defend these wikis from vandalisms. Very often I happen to put the Delete template on many pages (for various reasons: no sense, spam test ...) but I can not delete the pages directly.I know the tasks and functions of an admin very well because I'm administrator in various projects (it.wikiversity beta.wikiversity outreach Wikimania2017 ia.Wikibooks ia.wiktionary chr.wiktionary test and test2 wikipedia and test.wikidata).     • In response to some of the points below, if it was 10 large or medium-sized production wikis I would be more concerned, but only half are content wikis. Arguably, some of the temporary sysop functions could be replaced by GS (I know some folks won't be happy with me saying that, and I know that global sysops are told to tread carefully, but it is generally accepted that GS rights can be used for cleanup purposes.   • Comment. I am a bit concerned to be sincere. You currently hold adminship on 10 wikis, some of them on temporary basis, as you mention in your statement. Basically I share the feelings that Vituzzu pointed at you less than a month ago. This is not saying that you're doing bad out there, but accumulating statuses on several projects leads to quick burnout if not managed properly. If that happens it is likely that the burned out editor quits and an inactive user is like having no user at all. That said, I applaud your willingness to help global sysop wikis, though; but you should ask yourself if you can really handle them all and reply yourself with sincerity. If you've got the time and dedication to do it then 'thanks' for taking care of them, if not, it'll be wise not to further increase your responsabilities and take care of what you already do.   • I respond to everyone before you can misunderstand some things:

It is not in my intentions collecting flags and prudent requests to do so are carefully calculated by assessing whether they are able to perform the task and I have no intent to have an excessive number of flags since in any case in the end what should I serve? Do not overdo the number of administrator flags and purposes

Of the 10 wiki where I have administrator flsg: 3 are trial 3 are temporary fls awaiting the flag of Global Sysop (because a month ago it was in my opinion a bit early to make the request) and those in which I really are active As administrator are only four 4

Since test wikis are like wiki names where testing admin functions without doing constant activity do not have any consideration I've just scored among the wikis I have the flag for transparency because I think it's always better to let them know right away In which wiki you are admin and so on.

So the other 7 wiki 3 are with the temporary flag allocated exclusively to start wiki monitoring before requiring the global sysop flag but i'm not going to renew the flag (in my fears that a premature request would probably be rejected ) So there are four wikis in which I am actually an administrator and it is not for collecting flags but just to be of help I would not have any place to brag about my flags. Of these four wikis: it.wikiversity and beta.wikiversity are the wikis in which I flag actively Outreach in order to be able to do the actions of an administrator and wikimania2017 in order to translate into Italian the pages of our mediawiki as well as obviously delete any spam pages or other. Closed as no consensus following Steward discussion.

Having read carefully through the comments above and given the relative weights of the arguments, though most of the users are favoring support as there is supposedly enough crosswiki activity, quite a few others involved in countervandalism tasks have provided legit reasons to reject this request. By far the most relevant concerns in this discussion referred both to the hat collecting issue and to some mistakes made by him in a given small wiki. Either way, I do encourage Samuele2002 to carefully read the oppositions as constructive criticism, and to keep working on the elements which have been eliciting reasonable concerns by his fellow editors. On a personal note, I would also recommend him to take the points raised by MarcoAurelio into account and also free to re apply when he is ready. We surely appreciate his willingness to help the Wikimedia projects and wish him the best of luck with that.

Global sysop for DARIO SEVERI

Hello, I would like to request for GS. I'm active in the Small Wiki Monitoring Team.

I check several small Wikis every day and if I don't find vandalism I do small corrections, updates, add maps or moving categories. I often put the Delete template on clearly inappropriate pages, as I did in these wikis in the last days, ([16], [17], [18], [19], [20], [21], [22], [23], [24], [25], [26], [27] [28] [29] [30]) or when I change the name of an article and need to cancel the automatically created redirect as here [31], but it would be much quicker to delete them when I can do it by myself, and without waiting another sysop to do it. Be a global sysop it will be help me doing this.

I have already lot of experience with the sysop tool as being a sysop on three Wikis (+ 17,000 administrative actions [32]), and as editor I have more de 100 edits on 55 different projects, with a total over 75,000 edits.

I have been with Wikipedia since March 30, 2017. I have IP block exepmt user rights in May 4, 2017 on the English Wikipedia (verify). However, i tried the edit to testing page but mistakely admin blocked this ip range 2A03:2880:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 abusing this is open proxy actually this proxy is not open this is proxy of facebook's private organization.

There is strong technical evidence to suggest that you are causing this abuse. Can explain why you have the same IP, user agent, and pattern of name as most of the so-called socks that you are reverting and reporting? – Ajraddatz (talk) 20:15, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[]
Ok, here's the explain in three related common:
  1. The IP range and has been blocked by various admin in English Wikipedia.
  2. Attempting to use the other projects, but caught by IP range 2A03:2880:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 has been globaly blocked by Masti.

Yes, I'm aware of the details. The IP ranges could make sense because they are mobile ranges, and the UA could be the same by pure chance. But why does your username follow the pattern used by the supposed master? Why did you have another counter-vandalism account before this one? Was that even your first account? How did you find out about the MRY sockpuppets, and jump into that area so quickly? Apologies if I'm seeming paranoid, but we've had a couple of instances of good hand/bad hand accounts recently and I want to make sure that one such set of puppets isn't being allowed to continue. – Ajraddatz (talk) 02:20, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[]
I doubt that you are really blocked due to your IP. If you will look at the global block, local meta block, and local tlwiki block, they are set to affect only anonymous users, and probably you are editing while logged out. So you don't need global IP exempt (note also that global IP exempt only exempts you from global blocks, not local wiki blocks). I am also suspicious of you, since your username is similar to the usernames of the MRY socks, but I admit that I am not that familiar with the MRY case, I only see the case when I visit SRG, where I find sometimes some requests to lock MRY socks. Anyway, talking about the IP, I also doubt that Masti mistakenly considered the range as an open proxy, but mistakes can also happen so I pinged him now to this discussion. Also, why do you need to use a proxy? President Duterte didn't declared martial law and the suspension of writ of habeas corpus (yet) in the whole Philippines (are you living in the Philippines?), the president just declared the two in the Mindanao group of islands. If the president declared the two in the whole Philippines or you are living in Mindanao, then IMO using a proxy would be fine, since power tends to corrupt, but this isn't the case. I am using Tor, but I disable it when I am editing a Wikimedia wiki because I know open proxies and Tor can be abused by (not limited to) vandals and spammers. And last question: do you agree to be checkusered when needed (just in case you don't know checkuser, it is a tool used to retrieve the IP address, OS, and browser of a user during a particular action, like an edit)? How did you found out about the MRY socks and jumped to that area so quickly? Why do you need to use the proxy of Facebook, which is a webhost (which is blockable)? I'm from Venezuela and as many of people of my country, I have to use VPN/proxys to have some access to information or even try to enter on my social networks, due to government's blackout which they have been doing it since 2013. Since last year I have been using Opera's VPN just to get information about what it's happening in my country, because every single channel news it's pro government, and is easy for me to compare the reality of what I see on the streets and the lies on the news, that's why I started to use VPN's and I noticed just today that I was blocked last year till 2021 because I use an Open Proxy (I forget to disconnect when I visit a couple of webpages). I only have edited on wikipedia when I see a grammatical error on my native language, or when I see vandalism (the last one was reverting the emojis that someone inserted on a wiki). Ruslik he was saying government block preventing him doing anything with Wikipedia, the only way for him to edit Wikipedia is to use proxxy but his proxxy IP got blocked for being an open proxxy. The request itself is valid, it's a government block I myself used to experience this during President SBY era, now Indonesia have new president, most blocks are lifted and I now can edit without having to use proxxy.--AldNonymousBicara? 20:12, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[]

  • Neutral, Alvaro is a great user with the sysop tool, but I'm not seeing work where he is active on, for example, local rename requests on eswiki who can check the name and determinate if the username is eligible for rename or not before can be renamed, or here helping to other global renamers applying the correspondent policy. Global editinterface for Sophivorus

Hi! Almost one year ago I requested and received a global interface editor permission (my username was "Felipe Schenone" back then). I requested the permission for several reasons, one of which was because I had a grant to develop and spread the ProveIt gadget through several wikis. That grant has been successfully completed now. However, I'm still the maintainer of the gadget which is now spread on 10+ wikis, and all the other reasons for my original request still stand: I'm the main developer of the Wikidebate project on the English and Spanish Wikiversities and of the WikiWidgets project, which are cross-wiki projects that require constant edits to the MediaWiki namespace.
