Requests for global rollback permissions

Global rollback for Apipo1907

Hi, here I present myself as a global rollbacker. Member SWMT I fight against vandalism in small wikis, my main account is on French Wikipedia and Vikidia (wiki does not belong to WMF) where I patrol and rollbacker. I believe that the tools will allow me to fight effectively against vandalism in several wiki without any problems. Thank you for their time . Apipo1907 (talk) 12:55, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Oppose for now. Unfortunately, there is no recent activity and reverts like [1] show you are not yet ready for this global permission. Please try to remain active for a period of 3-6 months before re-applying and try to avoid reverting non-obvious vandal edits without providing an edit summary. Mistakes can happen, but at least your actions should be replicable to other users. If you consider these points, I would be happy to support in a future request. Thanks for volunteering. --Vogone (talk) 16:29, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
  •   Oppose: Only edits on 37 projects and lacks of recent activity at multiple wikis. Not experienced enough. --Ks-M9 [disc.] 17:47, 13 October 2016 (UTC).

Global rollback for Ks-M9

The following request is closed.
Not ending before 29 October 2016 22:43 UTC

Hello. I would like to use the global rollback flag for reverting vandalism, spam and cross-wiki abuse. My work on antivandalism is on small wikis and sometimes on big wikis. I am a member of SWMT with the nickname Ks-M9 on IRC, and I use the channel #cvn-sw for check vandalism and nonsenses, off-topic material, mark vandalic/spam pages for deletion, etc. I use Twinkle for revert, and sometimes the button of undo if is necessary. Sometimes I have a problems to joining on IRC because my connection of internet is not good, and I ask other users by this errors on the channels. In the past months and currently, I've reverted vandalism by cross-wiki vandal users; for example: Italian vandals [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] (mostly on big wikis), or flag vandal user case (here 020730szm, his sockpuppets are currently globally locked for continued cross-wiki abuse) [10] (block log) [11] [12] reverts [13] and many wikis in which he has been reverted because his vandalism is persistent: he is from China, but his reverted IPs are from Quanzhou. Also on Meta I sometimes check global filter 90 of cross-wiki comment spammers, and I revert that, examples: [14] [15] [16] and I've reverted edits by LTA Wikinger [17] [18]. SWMT needs more help to monitoring small wikis, and I would like to help in this task using GR flag. I have rollback tool on eswiki, enwiki and commonswiki. If you objections for me, I try to improve my mistakes. Thanks for your consideration. --Ks-M9 [disc.] 22:43, 24 October 2016 (UTC).

  • Support, I must say I am impressed by the great crossactivity. We didn't have many GR requests of this kind lately. Having checked a few of the reverts, I am confident the GR tool will be useful to Ks-M9. Regards, --Vogone (talk) 00:14, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Support - certainly enough experience to warrant granting this tool. I also think that counter-vandalism across many big wikis is a valid reason for requesting this permission, especially when coupled with plenty of small-wiki work as well. Requests for global sysop permissions

Global sysop for Biplab Anand

Not ending before 6 October 2016 10:52 UTC

Hello Friends, I would like to request for GS. This is my second request. I'm a Global Renamer and active in the Small Wiki Monitoring Team. I have experience with the sysop tool as being a sysop on newiki and maiwiki. This tool would help me to delete vandalism and spam pages. You can find me on IRC under the nick Biplab in multiple Wikimedia channels. I surely concern about the scope of GS and also concern where I can use the tool and where it shouldn't be used. Now I have to ask other global sysops or stewards, but it would be much easier when I can do it by myself. If I appointed as a global sysop, I'll be helpful for maintenance and anti-vandalism. Thanks--Biplab Anand (Talk) 10:52, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi Vogone. I don't say that we need less English speakers but as long as we have more than 50 languages without any sysop I think we definitively need more people speaking other languages. --Holder (talk) 16:29, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Global sysop for タチコマ robot

Not ending before 5 November 2016 09:09 UTC

We have a large number of wikis with Double Redirect issues. I operate a bot that fixes this on practically every wiki. Over the years these smaller wikis have accumulated double redirects bots cannot fix. This may be because the page is protected or because the double redirect is formed due to a circular or self redirects.

The protected pages can be due to admin protections or user .js or .css files that are leftover as redirects if the user account is moved more than once. I fixed plenty of these on Commons wiki using my admin privileges. An admin helped me with the task on en.wikipedia. If the bot (User:タチコマ robot) is given global sysop (even briefly, for a day or two) it can fix the protected double redirect pages on the smaller wikis that accumulated in over a decade.

The bot will not use any admin privileges aside from editing protected pages.

After that there still will be a need to process whats left manually. I tend to recommend speedy deletion of circular redirects since they lead to nowhere to begin with. They are a navigational hazard.

  •   Oppose Not is administrator in any project, is blocked in enwikisource and I can not trust itself to a bot tools in all GS wikis. Alvaro Molina (Let's Talk) 15:16, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
  •   Strong oppose Requested task is out of scope of GS. --Krd 15:32, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
  •   Oppose Out of scope, and GS cannot edit on big wikis anyway. --Rschen7754 16:02, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
@Rschen7754: The idea here is to maintain smaller wikis. Large wikis have enough active admins to handle this task. It is difficult to watch hundreds of special pages when a sysop access requiring problem pops up. -- とある白い猫 chi? 19:20, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
  •   Oppose. Sorry, this bot isn't a sysop on a project of Wikimedia, and hasn't experience of the role of GS. The task is out of scope of GS. --Ks-M9 [disc.] 17:35, 22 October 2016 (UTC).
@Ks-M9: Of course bot is not a sysop, bot should not carry out admin tasks. I am an admin on commons myself. I do not have the time to take care of GS related tasks and I am not interested in hat collecting either. Idea here is for the bot to run once for about a day or two and then the flag can be removed. Other option is to fix these manually which requires hundreds of edits by humans on multiple wikis. If global admins and stewards are willing to do that, that is fine by me. -- とある白い猫 chi? 19:10, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
I get it. But it would be impossible to edit protected pages on big wikis, (enwiki, eswiki, jawiki, for example) because big wikis are not applicable of Global sysops. For me, an user can obtain this permission if he has gained cross-wiki experience (e.g. members of SWMT), marking pages for deletion, ask other GS users for help, etc. Anyway, good luck. --Ks-M9 [disc.] 19:28, 22 October 2016 (UTC).
I do not seek editing protected pages on larger wikis at this point. That would be a matter for local consensus and to be fair they have enough local admins to manually handle this task. -- とある白い猫 chi? 20:03, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
  •   Oppose out of scope. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 17:36, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

Request withdrawn I would agree with that assessment based on this discussion. I have refiled it below for the Interface editors flag instead. -- とある白い猫 chi? 20:02, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

Global rename for Ks0stm

Not ending before 19 October 2016 17:42 UTC

Hey y'all! I'm applying for global rename permissions because at my home wiki, the English Wikipedia, I often work at Usernames for Administrator Attention discussing username violations with users and blocking accounts that do not meet the local username policy. Users blocked for a username violation or notified that their usernames do not meet policy often request a change in username, and having the ability to perform these renames would enhance my ability to perform this work. I have carefully read the global rename policy and the English Wikipedia username policy (I would focus primarily on requests from that wiki), and while I have no bureaucrat experience, I believe I would be well suited to the role. I will be focused at requests from my wiki and only after some time maybe I'll help other projectes too. I know that I'm active exclusively at cswiki but in case I would focus on requests from this project I think this isn't big objection. I can speak Czech and Englis as my global user page says. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 17:54, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Neutral I do not think crosswiki experience is too significant for this permission, but at least a basic level (understanding instructions like in the case Steinsplitter linked) can be expected. Since mistakes can happen, I won't oppose this request, but given this little issue, I would recommend getting to know metawiki a bit before being granted this permission. --Vogone (talk) 19:14, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

I will note that I have no issue with someone being "eager" to help out like this; I generally like it when people are involved in the roles that they volunteer for, and we all "want" to do these things or we wouldn't volunteer in the first place. – Ajraddatz (talk) 02:34, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

You got me this time, please add the flag, I missed to request it. --Krd 15:29, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Supposed to be requested by an OTRS admin, but yes, とある白い猫 is an OTRS agent per the list on OTRS-wiki. Revent (talk) 03:28, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
