Requests for global rollback permissions

Global rollback for Eurodyne

I was convinced by Aldnonymous to go ahead and put up my request for global rollback. The undo function is given to all Wikimedia users, even IP's. Rollback is (almost) the same as the undo function but it lets users revert quicker without an edit summary. I've been using the global twinkle (which sometimes is slow and gives me problems) and would find that the actual rollback tool on all wikis would be helpful. I started on Wikimedia 6 months ago and did not get into SWMT work until 3 months ago. Since then, I have been actively reverting and tagging pages for deletion across many wikis. I am currently a sysop on simplewikt and have rollback on a few other wikis. I am open to questions so feel free to ask. Eurodyne (talk) 06:49, 5 December 2014 (UTC) I have had previous accounts, Akifumii and Xermano which were used in the past for the wrong reasons. Eurodyne (talk) 06:50, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

*   Support You have good Xwiki experience but you have slight misunderstanding on that shouldn't be a problem, so I support you, and yeah GR is slightly faster than twinkle and even more faster than undo.--AldNonUcallin?☎ 06:52, 5 December 2014 (UTC)Changed to neutral
  • I worry a bit when I read Jasper deng comment so   Neutral in this case, since you are not completely bad at all.--AldNonUcallin?☎ 08:53, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
  •   Strong oppose I am not convinced that Eurodyne has stopped hat collection, nor am I convinced that he has the maturity to hold advanced rights. Over the past two months he requested property creator rights on Wikidata twice, and sysop on once. The user has an even worse history with those two alternate accounts (sockpuppetry less than a year ago). Nor do I think three months is enough experience.--Jasper Deng (talk) 08:11, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Global rollback for فلورانس

i help to Vandalism_reports and can encounter vandalisms on my watchlist or on Special:Contributions/newbies, I,m also rollbacker in any project fa and ar language and sysop in fa.wikivoyage , need for global rollback permissions for edit and undo all vandalism edit , now i have Contributions in all fa language and ar project ,thanks --Florence (talk) 11:59, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

  •   Weak oppose You mainly edit on fa and ar wiki, and you already have rollback on those projects, Join SWMT and get more experience to detect vandalism outside of your language maybe?--AldNonUcallin?☎ 13:56, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
@Aldnonymous: i Join SWMT in this date in July 16 2013 !!
But umm, you quit and rejoined again just yesterday, then I check your Xwikiness it's indeed 200 entries but you only do more than 5 edit in 32 wikis rest of that just 1 edit and that 1 edit on 200 wikis is making new user page for your bot. I am very sorry, I can't change my argument about opposing this. You have a very good intention volunteering for GR and help us fight Vandalism Xwiki, but I am not sure if you are gonna be able to detect vandalism outside of your language.--AldNonUcallin?☎ 21:38, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Global rollback for Ochilov

I want to have a global rollback right, because I fight over vandalism in English and Russian Wikipedia, and also I interested on doing in in other Wiki-projects. --Ochilov (talk) 18:08, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

  •   Oppose Judging from Special:CentralAuth/Ochilov, you don't have enough experience with cross-wiki vandalism. It is generally given to those on SWMT (and generally not to those who join SWMT for the sole purpose of obtaining this right). Also I dislike the fact that you are also requested two other permissions at the same time (global IP block exemption, see below; Meta:Requests for adminship/Ochilov).--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:10, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Global rollback for Ah3kal

I used to have global rollback under another account back in 2010 ([1], verification of the account claim, since then, I also used another account [2] - personal and privacy reasons) but asked for removal in the same year because of serious personal IRL reasons. Now I have again some time to spend helping swmt, and while I still can do similarly the job with global TW, it would be a bit more convinient with gr. If, though, the community is uncomfortable with the account changes, or the 4,5 years that passed, or anything else, I can wait. Ah3kal (talk) 12:12, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Global sysop for Érico

Not ending before 29 December 2014 19:13 UTC

Hello folks! I'd like to apply for global sysop access again (the first request was two years ago). I went GS between December 2012 to February 2014 and resigned for lack of time. Requests for global IP block exemption

Global IP block exempt for Mjbmr

As I'm living in Iran, I'm using a transparency proxy over an American VPS for a while, but unfortunately I can't afford a VPS anymore, I'm planning to use Tor network, so I need a global IPBE flag. thanks.  Mjbmr (discussioncontribs) 15:13, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Just letting others know that this user has been blocked indefinitely in fa.wp due to libelous comment about User:Mardetanha (still blocked) and he/she was blocked for three years in meta because this user created a impersonator account to de-sysop someone else and used toolserver as proxy to hide his/her real IP and not to catch in CU Amir (talk) 18:04, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't deny those you say, impersonator account was just because noticing mediawiki developer that there is a bug, but I got CUed after that. CU is working with cookies so if any other users showed up in CU that means I'm responsible for that. I'm not responsible for any other actions from IPs I'm using.  Mjbmr (discussioncontribs) 20:16, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
btw, I'm here to help, I never had issues with the content, if you blocked my in fawiki that's ok with me, you even blocked me from editing my own pages, that's ok too, you're just missing another tech user in your project, that's all. and for your information global IPBE has nothing to do with local user block.  Mjbmr (discussioncontribs) 20:22, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
IMO this right is about being trustworthy enough to handle and use forbidden IP. Thes things that I said (using toolserver account as proxy and change IP to bypass CU and hide the user behind the impersonator account (you)) can affect this trustworthiness and being a technical user is not related to get the right. Amir (talk) 20:38, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
Sure, you're right.  Mjbmr (discussioncontribs) 20:40, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
  • I only have vague remembrances about this case, but if the user has been unblocked and needs Tor to edit then I don't see why not grant the request. As far as I can see, the global IP block exemption wouldn't facilitate any of the abuse feared here. --Nemo 21:27, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

I had no experience related to rename because I was became the crat at kowiki since October 16th, 2014 which is rename process is already centralized. I think it would be nice to have more Korean renamers(We have only one active) I think. I am working as crat on kowiki and admin as wikidata. I'll do my best:) Regards,--DangSunM (talk) 17:45, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

I had in August 2014 on my Wikispecies user page a message from Keegan with a suggestion to apply for the global renamer right on Meta, which I hereby do. I am a user on Wikipedia since 2002, and I am presently the only active local bureaucrat on Wikispecies. I have only minor experience related to renaming, but I have read and understood the Global rename policy and other relevant policies. Regards, Dan Koehl (talk) 12:38, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

  •   Support Not a big fan of Wikispecies sysops but I have no problem with this user. Eurodyne (talk) 15:24, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
  •   Neutral This is not just minor experience, it's simply no experience - even though you were a bureaucrat for six months until the rename extension was shut off. And species doesn't have many rename requests either, judged by the log and the request page. Only your language skills might be useful (we have two Swedish global renamers - Tegel and Ternarius), but not sure if that's enough to promote you as global renamer. I suggest to extend this request to two weeks. Trijnsteltalk 16:22, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Support. I tend to agree with Trijnstel on no rename experience, but I'm also open to give this user a shot if he wants to help with this, also per language skills. -- M\A 19:08, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

  • Extended discussion until the 16th. Even though it seems likely to pass, the lack of experience with renaming merits the potential for further discussion. Ajraddatz (talk) 22:53, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
  •   Oppose We have now 66 global renamers, as such I see no need to grant this right to users that do not have the necessary experience, despite having been bureaucrats prior to the introduction of global rename. Snowolf How can I help? 16:16, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

I certainly apologize if I have done something wrong, or broke any rules. I followed a suggested invitation on my talk page, and with only good intentions, to assist with the project. If I did anything wrong with this, and broke any rules, please inform me about my errors, and I will withdraw my application, because I dont want to have on my personal record, that i did anything against the wish of the community, or the rules. If this is so, my only defence is, that I honestly thought, that I did something good for the project, and I do take responsibility for my actions, but as I wrote above, I acted on a written suggestion, why I did it in good faith. Dan Koehl (talk) 00:15, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

It shouldn't be considered to be a negative mark on your record; the concerns relate to not having enough experience, and are not related to you as an editor. --Rschen7754 09:17, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
  •   Oppose. I can't support this application at this occasion when there is no experience in renaming. Another thing, that's not related to this but it gives a strange feeling, is the failed application for local admin on the day before this application. Might just be a case of bad timing. -- Tegel (Talk) 23:32, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Not done, per the lack of consensus. As per Rschen, most of the comments here refer to your lack of experience with the renameuser tools, before they were shut down. This is definitely not an overall negative mark, but merely the opinion that your experience in the renaming of accounts is limited, and that there are already sufficient renamers, there's nothing wrong with that. Thank you in any case for volunteering. Savhñ 14:37, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Global rename for Edmenb

Hi, I'm a wikipedian since march 2007, and I've been an admin and bureaucrat on the Spanish Wikipedia since September of that year. I'm also an OTRS volunteer, and since 2012, I have been one of's CheckUsers. I have the impression that there currently are rather few Spanish users with the possibility to rename globally, with a significant amount of request on our local request page.

Having performed 13 renames as a local bureaucrat, and I have been helping the understaffed remaining renamers on our local request. I would like to be able to help and do the renamings myself again. Thank you, Edmenb ( Mensajes ) Wikipedia en Español 13:54, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Requests for other global permissions

Global editinterface for Technical 13

  • I'd like to request this permission to be able to work on updating uses of addOnloadHook(), addPortletLink(), and wgVariables that aren't using mw.config.get() as they should be. I made a request on mw:MediaWiki talk:Gadget-ajaxrecentchanges.js for an update to some of these components and went to the #wikimedia-dev channel to request someone that had the ability to make the changes for me. The response I got was that I should either request adminship if it was just mw: that I was interested in going through and bringing the scripts up to code or I should come here if there were other projects that I wanted to go through as well. Since I'd like to working on fixing these issues on MW, commons, meta, and enwp, I figured the best way for me to go is to come here and request this user group. I will happily sandbox all changes that I intend to make to these script and test them in all skins on all browsers they are expected to work in that I have access to, confirming the the fixes don't actually break anything. Thank you for your consideration. {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 04:16, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
See the previous request as well. I would be uncomfortable granting this right while the user does not have access to these areas on enwiki specifically because of concerns with pushing his own perspective, especially since he suggests he wishes to use the rights on enwiki. Sorry, Ajraddatz (talk) 04:47, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Ajraddatz, I now again have access to those areas on enwiki again as my TE has been restored. The removal of my participation in the group was suppose to be short term as they indicated it shouldn't last more than 24 hours or it should be restored "soon". There were many reluctant to support it at all and many that thought they should be reinstated immediately and that Martin was out of line without a discussion to remove them in the first place. However, I have agreed with the administrator that has restored my ability to continue my template work that I would withdraw this request for now, and I intend to be back in about a month to re-open this request. To me it simply means that all these Gadgets and UserScripts will need to wait another month for my attention, but I suppose it won't blow anything up. I will say that getting rid of these methods is expected to be part of WMF1.26 or WMF1.27 last I knew, so those scripts may entirely cease to function at that point. {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 14:54, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Honestly, if that is the specific scope of your request and the enwiki dramas have cleared up then I would be happy to support the request for temporary access. But if you'd like to withdraw and wait again (that seeming to be rather useless bureaucracy to me), then that's up to you. All the best, Ajraddatz (talk) 22:24, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Ajraddatz, that is indeed the specific scope. I agree that it is bueraucrap, but it is what I agreed to and I'm a man of integrity and honor, so I will uphold that. I'll be back in a month, and hope to have less resistance at that time. Thank you. :) {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 05:57, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

remove system administrator permission from SPage (WMF)

I was made a global system administrator back when I was working on m:Research:Account creation UX. I don't need the power any more and I'd rather not have it – this rough magic I here abjure, I'll break my staff, Bury it certain fathoms in the earth. I could just remove the right myself, but I assume you want the paper trail. BTW at the time I was "S Page (WMF)" with a space between 'S' and 'P'; you have to look in Special:Log?type=gblrights for that old user name to see my rights grant requested by Philippe (maybe a bug with global rename, phab:T85023).
