Requests for global rollback permissions

Global rollback for ANGELUS

The following request is closed.

I would like to make better use of my experience in the fight against vandalism and make my contribution more productive within the Wikimedia projects. I point out to you that I am already Rollbacker on Commons, from a long time (where, among other things, I also have the flag of Patroller), and I'm also Rollbacker on the English Wikipedia, so I think I know well how the tool works and its proper use. I'm also autopatrolled in some other wikis. Moreover: "that tool makes reverts easier and so the work is more enjoyable". Thanks and best regards. --Angelus(talk) 01:47, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Best regards. :-) --Angelus(talk) 02:11, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

But you already have rollback on Commons and en.wikipedia, so those don't count; besides, 3 wikis is not sufficient. --Rschen7754 02:13, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose - You certainly have a lot of edits across multiple wikis, but I can only find one revert on hi.wp within the last three years at least on projects where you don't already have rollback. To me, that doesn't indicate a need for the rights, specifically the part of GR requiring "heavy use of revert on many wikis". You could join the SWMT and patrol cross-wiki edits through IRC channels like #cvn-swconnect to gain some experience with this. Ajraddatz (Talk) 02:06, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
    • On it.wiki I contribute regularly, but I have not the rollback rights. --Angelus(talk) 02:20, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
      • I don't think that a handful of wikis is enough for GR, but it is no big deal. Generally I would at least like to see that you are able to identify vandalism or spam in many languages, no necessarily using the Latin script. Do you want to join SWMT? PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:22, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Oppose per Ajraddatz.--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:13, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Oppose per above. --Rschen7754 02:20, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Dear Angelus, I appreciate your interest in fighting vandalism, but I don't think you have sufficient experience in fighting vandalism in languages you don't understand, which is quite different than editing in languages you do understand. You can use Twinkle to help us without the global rollback tool, and you could also participate in the Small Wiki Monitoring Team to gain more cross-wiki experience. I'd advise withdrawing this request for now. Mathonius (talk) 02:22, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Request withdrawn - Ok, thanks. Best regards. --Angelus(talk) 02:25, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Not done, request withdrawn. Trijnsteltalk 19:47, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Global rollback for Hydriz

I would like to have the global rollback permission so that I can assist in reverting vandalism. I have enabled Twinkle globally, and have used it quite a bit, but having the rollback right itself will streamline the process and makes things easy. I have (hopefully) proven myself to be much better, mature and logical since the last time I requested for global rollback. Thank you. --Hydriz (talk) 16:12, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

  • If I look at your crosswiki contributions I see the most of your edits are creating userpages and other stuff like that. I don't see to many reverts on that page, So I think I need some more time of my choice of vote. --Wiki13 talk 16:32, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
  •   Oppose canvassing on IRC for opinions on this and insufficient experience.--Jasper Deng (talk) 03:12, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Given the notice of this discussion was posted in #wikimedia-stewards, a channel were in usual circumstances (TS has been inaccessible today and the bot has gone down) a bot notifies us of such requests, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Snowolf How can I help? 03:31, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  • {{neutral}} Hydriz has been rather active recently, with around 50 reverts xwiki in the last month, but very little experience outside of that. I would be OK with this in a bit of time, but am also considering changing to support here. Ajraddatz (Talk) 03:18, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Change to   Support. Re-checking the user's global contributions does show more experience (not done with twinkle so it messed up my attempt at an easy search), and I agree with the below comments as well. The advertising of this request was also acceptable, since it had been a couple of days without any comment, and it was done in a public area (and the bot was down). Ajraddatz (Talk) 16:38, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Support user has broad range of xwiki edits, widely applied advanced rights, including rollbacker, two years since last application, and two years more mature. I see no harm.  — billinghurst sDrewth 08:44, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Support don't see a real need (only a few reverts), but on the other hand don't see any harm either; so AGF and furthermore per Billinghurst. Trijnsteltalk 13:59, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Support - that tool makes reverts easier and so the work is more enjoyable. Doing that work without that tool is probably rather annoying. I guess with the tool we'll probably see even more reverts from him. Also my general experience with Hydriz in the past is good, he really does some good work. I see no real problems here. -Barras talk 14:08, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Support - I think he will do a good job, and doubt he will cause any harm. GR is no big deal, and Hydriz is trusted and experienced enough. Also, he seems pleasant from my interactions with him (on simple.wiktionary mostly). PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:10, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Weak support per Ajraddatz and Barras. --Alan (talk) 16:22, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Support per Ajraddatz & Barras - they sum it up nicely. Enfcer (talk) 02:06, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

  • I know Hydriz is a reasonable person, but I don't know anything about his recent global reverting activities (and am too lazy to check). --MF-W 17:08, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
    • After reading the analysis from Vogone, I feel compelled to be opposed to this request because of the inactivity. Additionally I've never seen any statistics which say that users get more active by getting GR. --MF-W 22:15, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

  •   Oppose Hydriz is certainly a great contributor to many of our projects, but I don't see the required experience/activity here (the policy says: "For consideration, users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki countervandalism or anti-spam activities […] and make heavy use of revert on many wikis). Besides a global mass creation of user pages on 22th January, not much cross-wiki activity can be found in his global contributions. Though, after this mass creation of global user pages, Hydriz became slightly more active and made edits to 32 different wikis, but not even all of them had to to with CVN work and thus also not many reverts can be found in that period of time. This makes about 40 reverts outside of his home wikis for the years 2013 and 2014, which doesn't seem sufficient to me to fulfil the criteria defined by the policy. Vogone talk 19:03, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Support Per Vogone - you aren't very active. But I've learned that people become more active if they have GR. also per Trijnstel.Southparkfan 20:58, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  •   Comment I think this can be closed now. PiRSquared17 (talk) 04:43, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
