Requests for global rollback permissions

Global rollback for Rzuwig

I am applying for the permission to use the global rollback. I have the rollback tool on 3 wikis (pl, en and commons). One of the reasons for applying for it is the ability to move pages without creating a redirect from the old name. I move a lot of files on commons and some do not require the creation of a redirect. On pl wiki I am moving a lot of pages while I'm patrolling recent changes and here also I would do it right in the case of incorrectly formed name. I will not use this tool in projects where I have no knowledge of the language and subject matter. Rzuwig 20:41, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Sorry, but in my opinion what you intend to do falls out of the GR scope. Global rollback is intended for making reverting vandalism easier, and the redirect suppresed move is only a feature to permit this, usually reserved for admins. Savhñ 20:49, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
  •   Comment - suppress redirect comes in a bundle with these user rights. Unless the user wants to be a full-fledged project admin, there is (or so I think) no easier way of granting him this one tool which he actually will make use of. A curious setup to be resolved perhaps later. As for now, if Rzuwig wants to make good use of this feature, and knowing his contribs I think he probably will, I do not object. Wojciech Pędzich Talk 21:02, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
  • My thoughts mainly go with what Savh said. It is also worth noting that some projects specifically disallow the use of that right by non-admins, such as enwiki. Ajraddatz (Talk) 23:29, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
  • & , the request falls outside of the GR policy and scope. Snowolf How can I help? 23:47, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
  • &  The user gave a reasonable purpose of using the GR rights and I don't see any potential of abuse, so I support this request. @Ajraddatz: I can't find any rule that prohibits the use of suppressredirect by non-admins on enwiki, neither in the Global rights policy nor in the Redirect guideline. Kind regards --Iste (D) 10:14, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I am the operator of the bot on pl wiki. As part of this I have the right to move pages without creating redirect. I am a trusted user on my home wiki and I will not use this tool in the wrong purpose on any wiki. Rzuwig 17:48, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Which projects are you intending to use this tool on? Will this tool work on non-swmt-projects? -- Lavallen 18:31, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
The tool works on all Wikimedia projects. Snowolf How can I help? 18:32, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Not done The request is clearly outside the scope of the global rollback. The global rollback is not a way to get around local user right restrictions. Ruslik (talk) 19:29, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
  •   Comment While I agree that this request falls outside of the typical intended use of the global rollback tool, the user seems to be in good standing and gives a valid reason for the use of the tool, rooted in the actual editing experience. While obviously RfA on pl-wiki and commons would be a solution, I can see how this approach can be more sensible. Yet, of course, the typical control of global rollbackers does not assume such a use. Pundit (talk) 20:09, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Global rollback for Derschueler

The following request is closed.

Hello, I'd like to get the GR flag too. I'm against Vandalism at the German Wikipedia mostly and want to help on the other Wikipedias. here you can see my work. — :derschueler: 16:14, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

  •   Oppose You seem to be an active and good contributor in fighting vandalism at de.wikipedia, (though most reverts were done in recent days), but anyway, you don't have any experience in countervandalism at other projects -- you must be active in cross-wiki countervandalism. --Z 16:50, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Insufficient experience; please join the SWMT and help in anti-vandalism/anti-spam efforts in smaller wikis and request this flag after you have gained relevant experience. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 17:05, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Strong oppose No cross-wiki experience. Toto Azéro follow the guide ! 18:15, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
  • & , I don't see any evidence of crosswiki reverts on luxo. I would suggest hanging around #cvn-sw, using twinkle thru a global.js and so on before asking for the GR flag. Snowolf How can I help? 18:18, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Not done per the snowball clause. I would advise Derschueler to follow the comments above, and to get involved in cross-wiki fight against vandalism. Plus the global rollback is clearly not necessary to patrol on wikis. You can contact me at my user talk page if you need some help with cross-wiki issues. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:48, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Global rollback for Érico

[Not to be closed before May 11th.]

Hi, I´d like to get the GR flag. I already tried it just over one month (1). Last time, my request only failed because I was too new. I have been an active member at SWMT for 60 days, using the #cvn-swconnect and #cvn-simplewikisconnect IRC channel to fighting vandalism. As a sysop on pt.wiki (since January 2012), I'm used to this feature and I know how to properly use it. I also have rollback privileges on en.wiki and es.wiki. Regards, Érico msg 03:15, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Global rollback for とある白い猫

  • I'd like to request a global bot flag to assist with reverts of vandalism, spam and other harmful content on wikis that cannot self-govern. -- とある白い猫 chi? 11:52, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
  • While the user seems somewhat active crosswiki in tagging pages for deletion (virtually all images tho), I was unable to find any significant countervandalism or anti-spam activity that would be aided by this tool. Simply there are no reverts on luxo at all. I would advise the user to use tools such as TWINKLE and hang out in #cvn-sw or join the SWMT before requesting this flag. Also, it is of some concern the expression "on wikis that cannot self-govern". While I doubt it is the candidate's intention to mean so, it is open to various intepretations. GR and GS are technical roles with no relations to the communities' ability to "self-govern" or not. Snowolf How can I help? 12:17, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Global rollback for AndrewN

The following request is closed.

Planning to become involved with the SWMT, and would like to have access to the same tools I have on ENWP (my primary wiki). Have had RB on ENWP for 2 years, no issues, revocations, etc. No blocks, no AN/I. Thanks. AndrewN (talk) 02:37, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Oppose. Sorry, but not enough cross-wiki activity yet. -- Tegel (Talk) 02:58, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
We tend to like to see some actual SWMT activity first so we know how you can revert in languages that you don't understand. Please get some experience with that first and then re-apply for this. Ajraddatz (Talk) 04:00, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
&  13 edits outside of homewiki, none of them reverts. As I often suggest to people asking for global rollback without the necessary crosswiki experience, I would suggest using a global.js solution and TWINKLE, it provides you with the core part of the GR toolset and it's what several users use without issues :) Snowolf How can I help? 06:26, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
I've now made a page detailing the process of setting up TWINKLE to work on all wikis at User:Snowolf/How to globally TWINKLE which you might find useful. Snowolf How can I help? 07:07, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Oppose I've seen you on IRC, but I expect much more edits on foreign wikis than that, especially vandalism tagging/reverts in foreign languages.--Jasper Deng (talk) 17:38, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Agreed with above. You could actually use some more crosswiki experience before getting this right. -Barras talk 20:02, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Not done No consensus at this time. If you want to help fighting against vandalism, you'll be welcomed well. For that, just follow the advices Snowolf has given you. Regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 10:32, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Requests for global sysop permissions

Global sysop for Toto Azéro

The following request is closed.
[Not to be closed before May 3rd.]

Hello folks, I am nominating Toto Azéro for global sysopship. He is a very active cross-wiki vandal/spam fighter and one of the very active global rollbackers. He requests deletion of nonsense pages in small wiki so often and that keep global sysops and steward busy. I believe now we can trust him with this tool so he can finish the job on his own. Global editinterface for KPu3uC B Poccuu

I ask for this flag to do two non-controversial tasks. First, there are many Mediawiki messages in my home project, ruwiki, which are equal to their counterparts from translatewiki or outdated or should be deleted because they are unused now. I pointed to that on our village pump (archive), but local discussion had ended without appropriate actions was performed. I wish to synchronize neccessary messages, mark unused or equal to current versions from translatewiki to be deleted by sysops and do little changes in some places. Second job is applying requested protected page changes which count is slowly growning because our sysops don't react on them fast so I think any help here would be appreciated. I'm wellknowleged in wiki markup and templates, i. e. by my suggestion our Template:Актуально, request for permission pages and request for revoking permissions page were reworked to update the template by itself; in before users had to update all discussions' states manually. Thanks and sorry for any mistakes in my English. KPu3uC B Poccuu (talk) 03:31, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Comment. This request shall not be granted as it is beyond the intended scope of the GE group. Ruslik (talk) 03:53, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry if I didn't understand something, but the policy says "Interface editors are trusted users who can edit the MediaWiki namespace globally. They maintain templates and the site's JavaScript (*.js) and Cascading Style Sheets (*.css) resources." which is exactly what I want to do with exception of editing only one project in close future; after a while and if requested from other projects, I can help them as well with dealing with localised system messages. You may concern about second task but it's often involves MediaWiki pages as well, so I stated it but not clearly. Best regards, KPu3uC B Poccuu (talk) 04:02, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Not done Hello KPu3uC B Poccuu. The global editinterface is a group we assign to users who really need to edit the MediaWiki namespace or the JS/CSS globally. From what I see in your statement, you only request it for the Russian Wikipedia. You should request the right to edit the interface locally, and not globally. I guess that's what Ruslik meant. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 04:51, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Only sysops on my wiki can do it and I'm pretty sure that I won't get sysop flag closest time. Cheers, KPu3uC B Poccuu (talk) 05:23, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Although Wikipedias of Indic languages has active community and admins the case is not same when we come to sister wiki projects (wikisource, wiktionary...). Firstly, I understand I'm not following the instructions, which would reflect very poorly upon me if I were requesting this for myself. However, as I'm not requesting it for myself, I don't think the template is appropriate anyway. Global IP block exempt for Shujenchang

I contribute to Chinese Wikipedia and live in China now. Because of the internet censorship in China, I often have to visit Wikimedia projects via VPN or proxy, but many IPs of proxies such as Freegate is blocked by many Wikimedia projects. Besides that, I've already have IP block exempt permission in zh.wikipedia, but sometimes I need to edit files or articles on Commons or other language Wikipedia. So I want to have the permission of global IP block exempt. Thanks. --Shujenchang (talk) 10:28, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Sometimes HTTPS is blocked too by my ISP. --Shujenchang (talk) 15:29, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
I can see six successful uses of IP addresses, none of which is blocked. I understand that this is a negative check for the of existence a block, however, I don't see anything. Would you be able to contact one of the stewards with evidence of a block. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:28, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Besides, to connect to Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, etc more conveniently, I always keep my VPN connected. I use VPNChina most time, whose IP address is 67.215.241.74, which is blocked by many Wikimedia Projects as an open proxy IP address. Without this permission, I have to disconnect the VPN when edit Wikimedia Projects (even sometimes I cannot visit Wiki without VPN at all, even though using HTTPS), then connect VPN again after my edit. It is very inconvenient! So I think I really need this permission to make me convenient. Thanks. --Shujenchang (talk) 13:38, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
The screenshot below can be a evidence of the block of my VPN's IP address. --Shujenchang (talk) 13:59, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Done. You now have global IP block exemption for 3 months. — T. 02:28, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
