Global bot status requests

Global bot status for YurikBot

See bot documentation, explaining what the bot does and how community can use it. Yuirkbot has been around for a while, but has been a bit dormant... time to bring it back (YurikBot has many millions of edits across many wikis). --Yurik (talk) 00:02, 12 April 2019 (UTC)

@Yurik: how does this bot abide by the only global bot use case allowed by policy: the bot must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects? — xaosflux Talk 00:12, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux:, my appologies, I must have missed the change in policy. How would you propose I submit a request for a bot flag, given numerous community supports received, both in this year and in many previous discussions? I suspect requesting this flag one wiki at a time would be hugely wasteful resource-wise... --Yurik (talk) 00:28, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure the best way forward - every time I've suggested expanding the global bot policy to allow anything else it's gotten nowhere - perhaps someone else can chime in - additionally I noticed your bot is currently blocked on at least 3 projects, and bot policies per project have broad differences. If you started editing with that bot on the English Wikipedia with out going through their approval process it would be quickly blocked for example. — xaosflux Talk 03:02, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Support I guess this bot should be approved since sharing modules is a mess right now. Capankajsmilyo (talk) 01:45, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure how to continue here. Do other stewards have suggestions? Trijnsteltalk 22:50, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
Suggest closing as not done. This request is outside the policy and anyway the global bot wikiset is limited to small and some medium wikis only where the bot will be least useful. Ruslik (talk) 13:56, 26 May 2019 (UTC)
Agree, there are opportunities for global bots to do more, (I was going to go that route for technical Linter Errors) but the policy simply doesn't support it - and is daunting to change. Suggest this bot start smaller with a subset of wikis and seek local permission first. — xaosflux Talk 16:40, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

What was the reason for the oppose vote? Ruslik (talk) 18:18, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
@Ruslik0: it's my vote. This user don't has any technical experience, and he applied a lot of bot requests on last few months. Best --Alaa :)..! 20:01, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
