Global bot status requests

Global bot status for ListeriaBot

ListeriaBot generates lists on wiki pages from Wikidata queries. It edits only where a user has inserted two templates into the wikitext, and only changes the wikitext between those templates. This bot has been active on many Wikis (see bot status) for a while now. The bot already has a bot flag on some wikis, including English Wikipedia. Other wikis now ask me to apply for a bot flag, which I just can not do on every wiki, without speaking the language etc. Unless a global bot flag is granted, the bot will be blocked on those wikis eventually. It has already been blocked on pt.wikipedia for that reason. --Magnus Manske (talk) 16:16, 22 April 2016 (UTC)

The global bot group only covers a limited subset of projects – mainly small wikis. You will still need to obtain bot flags on many large and medium projects. Ruslik (talk) 19:09, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
According to Bot policy#Global bots, global buts “must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects”. --UV (talk) 15:10, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
Indeed, global bot status is for double redirect fixing and mantain interwikis where Wikidata has not taken over that already. I'm afraid a discussion on the whole global bot policy needs to take place if we want to expand the scope of global bots. —MarcoAurelio 19:46, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
And yet, the OCR bot below is OK? Right. --Magnus Manske (talk) 11:51, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean with OCR, but please note both requests below are for local bot flags. Savhñ 11:53, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
Optical Character Recognition? Ruslik (talk) 01:37, 29 April 2016 (UTC
It may be simpler to create a special global group for this bot. Ruslik (talk) 12:18, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
I agree with Ruslik, but I'm not sure if we can do this straight away. The precedent is Pathoschild's global-delete group so he could continue with the synchbot service. —MarcoAurelio 18:06, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Closing as   Not done since we can't assign global bot status to a bot which is not going to perform tasks for which global bot flag is allowed to. If we want to try the path Ruslik and me suggested, I feel SRGP might be a better place for ad hoc global group creations and discussions. —MarcoAurelio 18:31, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Global bot status for UT-interwiki-Bot

This bot account will only edit interwiki-links in Wiktionarys (pywikibot and interwiki.py). It has the Bot flag already in 68 Wiktionarys and has been running for over 50 days with more than 400.000 edits without any complaints until today. Greetings from Austria --Udo T. (talk) 19:12, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

  • I'd say that's going to be useful since I've recently proposed nearly all Wiktionaries left to adopt the global bot policy, thus Udo T. won't need to request local bot flags anymore (unless he plans to do something more than interwikis or double redirect fixing). That said, I'll still have to check contributions, etc. before saying yea/nay; but I tend to say yes. —MarcoAurelio 12:09, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
    • While the edits seems fine, and has quite a number, I remember in the past we enforced the "long-term contributions to back up its trustworthiness". With just 58 days since it's creation according to SUL, I'm a bit hesistant to assign the permission. Nevertheless, we need more opinions here. —MarcoAurelio 18:33, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
      • If it makes a decision easier: I have for almost 6 months experience with another bot account (UT-Bot) that I operate only in German Wiktionary for other tasks. --Udo T. (talk) 21:15, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
  • I have no objections to this. No problems with the test so far. Ajraddatz (talk) 17:21, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
Done Closing as successful because the bot is now flagged practically on all large projects and has been functioning without problems. The bot operator seems to have the previous experience in running bots. Ruslik (talk) 12:58, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
I was about to come here and finally support to get this unblocked. I'm happy with the decision taken. —MarcoAurelio 15:29, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

UT-interwiki-Bot@hewiktionary

This bot account will only edit interwiki links in Wiktionarys. It has global bot flag now, but for operating in Hebrew Wiktionary it needs the local bot flag, because the Hebrew Wiktionary doesn't allow global bots. I have requested local at 25 May 2016 and after a while I "pinged" the two local bureaucrats (see discusssion). I also wrote a message to bureaucrat Ariel1024 on his talk page at 22 June 2016 (see here) and "pinged" him and the other bureaucrat again. Both bureaucrats seem to be active but I didn't get any answer until now. Is it possible in such a case, to get the local bot flag for Hebrew Wiktionary from the stewards? Greetings from Austria --Udo T. (talk) 09:22, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

Bureaucrat Ariel1024 has now flagged UT-interwiki-Bot (see his answer). Thanks to MarcoAurelio for his intervention. Greetings --Udo T. (talk) 08:11, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

On hold until the bot runs for at least a week without a bot flag or makes 100 edits.
Note: your bot is blocked on en.wiktionary.
Regards, —MarcoAurelio 08:21, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
It already made 100 edits if you look into its history.
PS. I already known that en.wikt blocking because I tried to run auto page creation without voting some time ago. I do not rush to edit en.wikt because many bots already handle interwiki there. --Octahedron80 (talk) 09:46, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
