The Southern African Music and Sound Collective is wikimedia user group dedicated to increasing the online footprint of Southern African music and sound scholarship, while actively seeking knowledge redress and addressing omissions in the scholarly record due to disciplinary, gender and/or race-based bias

Objectives

  • To help people learn how to edit the Southern African Music and Sound Wikimedia project
  • To organize online and in-person gatherings of group members
  • To serve as teaching tool for students in Southern Africa

Activities

  • Organising edit-a-thons for Wikipedia, Wikisource, and Wikidata on Southern African Music and Sound
  • Promoting editing of content on Wikimedia projects
  • Providing tranining around how to edit Wikimedia projects
