Research talk:Wikipedia article creation/Work log/Monday, January 6th

Monday, January 6th edit

It's been a little while. Over the winter holidays, I've been generating data for dewiki and other non-English Wikipedias. Today, I want to talk about a weird result that I've been getting from German Wikipedia. I'm trying to replicate the above analysis from the English Wikipedia for German.

Article survival (dewiki). The monthly proportion of surviving articles is plotted by which namespace the article originated from and the tenure of the article's author.

We're not seeing any meaningful amount of pages that start in any non-main namespace! This is very surprising. Here are the stats for October 2013.

Articles published (dewiki). The number articles published on German Wikipedia in Oct. of 2013 is plotted by the tenure of the author and the original namespace of the page.

Article survival (dewiki). The survival proportion of articles published on German Wikipedia in Oct. of 2013 is plotted by the tenure of the author and the original namespace of the page.

Unique authors (dewiki). The number of unique article publishers on German Wikipedia in Oct. of 2013 is plotted by the tenure of the author and the original namespace of the page.

That's all for today. Tomorrow I hope to have basic stats of all the other major wikis together. Then it will be time to finish writing the report at R:Wikipedia article creation. --Halfak (WMF) (talk) 00:14, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
