Volunteer support edit

Hi, Congratulations for starting this project! I have been working with adding images on articles related to medicine on Wikipedia and Wikidata. If you need any inputs from the community/volunteer side, I shall be happy to help. Netha Hussain (talk) 10:25, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for your support! We are figuring out the details of the experiment design for now, but we will reach out with more info/requests later on! Many thanks! Miriam (WMF) (talk) 13:28, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Happy to support this as well — my focus is on illustration of research-related subjects, particularly around biodiversity, biomedicine, data science and Asian studies. -- Daniel Mietchen (talk) 21:11, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot! We were actually thinking of focusing part of the study specifically on sciences. Will keep you posted! Miriam (WMF) (talk) 10:04, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Non-image media? edit

While the research description speaks of "images", I am wondering to what extent other media files — e.g. audio, video or 3D files or even things like PDFs or DJVs — fit into your picture. -- Daniel Mietchen (talk) 21:10, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this feedback! We are focusing on images right now, mainly because they make up a large percentage of Commons files (see Commons Media Statistics), and the vast majority of medias in Wikipedia (running query now to get numbers :)). However, in the future, we plan to extend this work to other types of media, too. Hope this helps Miriam (WMF) (talk) 10:46, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
